I can’t believe it’s a year next week since my Mum died. The last 18 months have been some of the most difficult I’ve experienced. From her diagnosis to death, Mum’s decline was shocking, sudden and sharp. It’s only now that I feel myself registering that she has gone.
She was undoubtedly an amazing woman, friend and mother. There’s a big gap in all of our Iives now that she’s no longer here. I have taken comfort from so many things in the last 12 months. The amazing support of friends and family, the reaching out of her own friends to me to tell me how much they loved her and valued her friendship. And probably most of all the love she gave to me for 42 years.
Even though she has physically gone that power carries through to today. It soothes the intensifying roll of grief as this linear mark in time approaches. The scope of someone’s love is beyond those limits.
