💤 1. Turns face away

- Not boredom — it’s their only “off switch”!
- ❌ Don’t add toys/noise → ✅ Keep it calm & quiet

🤍 2. Hiccups + yawn together

- Not wind, not tired — nervous system overloaded
- Happens after visitors, bright lights, TV…
- ✅ Dim lights, lower sound, rest

- Flailing, arching away when offered milk

- Switching sides too early
- ✅ Feed fully from one side first; only change sides when baby lets go naturally

- Small white spots after feeds; milk left on skin
- ✅ Wipe gently after feeding + slow down feeds → clears in ~3 days

- Sucking = comfort, not always hunger

✨ What NOT To Do With Your Newborn — Essential Safety Guide ✨

💧 ❌ Don’t give water
Babies under 6 months get ALL hydration they need from breastmilk or formula — extra water can be harmful!

🛏️ ❌ Don’t use pillows or soft bedding
Always place baby on their back, on a firm, flat surface. No pillows, cushions or thick blankets — lowers risk of SIDS & flat head syndrome.

🚗 ❌ Don’t let them sleep long in car seats
Car seats = for travel only! Max 2 hours at a time. Prolonged use strains posture & breathing.

🎠 ❌ Don’t leave them in swings too long
Same rule: under 2 hours. Keep their back straight — arched positions can affect development.

✨ Tummy Time 101 — Everything New Parents Need to Know ✨

1️⃣ When to start?
Start Day 1 (if full‑term & healthy). Lying baby on your chest already counts! Begin with very short sessions right from week 1.

2️⃣ How long by age:
• 1 month: 3–5 min × 2–3 times/day → 10–15 min total
• 2 months: 5–10 min × 2–3 → 15–30 min
• 3 months: 10 min × 3 → ~30 min
• 4 months: 10–15 min × 3–4 → 40–60 min
• 5 months: 15 min × 3–4 → 45–60 min
• 6 months: 15–22 min × 3–4 → 60–90 min
Guidelines only — every baby is different!

3️⃣ If baby cries?
Totally normal — it’s hard work at first! Start 1–2 mins, get down to their eye level, stop before they get upset. You’re doing great!

4️⃣ After feeding?
Wait 30–60 mins — tummy full + face‑down = spit‑ups!

5️⃣ Chest‑to‑chest counts?
YES! Easiest start — close, safe, and builds strength.
