Research that Ataxia UK has been involved in has shown that patients value ataxia centres. This was part of the the 'Value of Treatment’ project, a European Brain Council (EBC) project focused on evaluating coordinated care in three neurological diseases, one of these being ataxia. The ataxia study commenced in 2018 and was run by Prof Paola Giunti, lead of the London Ataxia Centre. You can read more about the project in our 'Research News' section of our website.

Thank you to Maria Eagle MP for standing alongside Julie Gill and her son Oscar, and for continuing to raise the urgent need for access to omaveloxolone (Skyclarys).

At Ataxia UK, our campaign continues. We are pressing for urgent action from the Government, NHS England, NICE and Biogen to find a pathway to treatment, while calling for changes to how rare disease medicines are assessed.

The growing support from MPs, families and the wider community is vital, but we need to turn that support into meaningful progress.
