Today we took our final Reflective Walk of the year. ✨🌻

Today is also National Grief Awareness Day. Reflection on grief and the many complicated emotions that can come with it has always been at the heart of Reflective Walks. This day gives us another opportunity to understand that grief can be experienced in many different ways, and to find ways of living with it.

Today we met again in Waterlow Park. The weather is getting cooler, just as naturally as the seasons changed towards summer a few months ago, and our walks have reached their final one of the year naturally. We still keep our familiar closing ritual: slowing down, reflecting, and saying goodbye.

Thanks to everyone who walked with us this year. We hope that practices such as Forest Bathing and the gentle ways of reflection we explore together can become part of your everyday life.

It will be nice to see you again! May you always be there for yourself, with kindness and care.

Rain or shine, we‘ll be walking this Sunday. 🌂

Our final Reflective Walk of the year will go ahead as planned this Sunday at 10.30am.

But the rain is welcome too. After a long dry spell the rain has finally arrived, the meadows and trees in the parks have been waiting for it, nature needs the rain just as much as the sunshine.

If you’re joining us, please bring an umbrella or a waterproof jacket, and choose suitable shoes for the walk.

We‘ll meet as usual at Waterlow Park and Highgate Cemetery.🌧️☀️

Every photograph holds a story. 📷

A photograph can capture more than a place. It can hold a memory, a relationship, a moment in someone‘s life.

When walking through Cemetery, we are surrounded by traces of people who lived before us. In a way similar to a photograph, the words and inscriptions on a gravestone can tell us something about a person’s life. The plants, old trees, and sounds of the wind around us, together with what we notice and feel, may become part of a new story.

Today, on World Photography Day, we invite you to take some photos simply to keep a record of today‘s experience and how it made you feel.

What might you notice, and what stories might be waiting to be seen?

August is moving quickly.

The difficult summer heat has passed, and everything around us is changing quickly.

As summer comes to an end, London is full of summer events. The August Bank Holiday weekend is also coming. Some people may choose to relax through gatherings and, cultural events. Others may simply want to find somewhere quiet to pause and reflect.

Whether you are looking for a quiet place, and people you can connect with to talk about loss, death, remembrance and reflection, or looking for some peace after the busy summer, our monthly Reflective Walk at the end of August welcomes you.

On 30 August, we will walk through Waterlow Park and Highgate Cemetery. This walk is not only about reflection. With gentle guidance, we also invite you to slow down, engage with nature, and find space to support your wellbeing.

This is currently planned as our final Reflective Walk of 2026. If you‘ve been thinking about joining us, this could be a good time to take that first step.

Please check your schedule and make sure you can attend before signing up via the link in profile.

Today’s walk is the final walk of our four-week Bereavement Group, time to say see you.
👣👣🐾🐾🌻🌻🌿🌿
Over the past month, we have returned to the same place, sharing time, have conversation. Today‘s walk took place in the Highgate Cemetery East, we started explore the surroundings through our senses, noticing the ripening plums, the scent of rosemary.

We also bring an object that reminded of someone we had lost. photograph, favourite belonging, familiar object, they reconnect us with precious memories and remind us that love continues in the lives we carry forward.

Thank you to everyone who walked together, shared your stories, or simply shared your presence. We hope these walks have offered a supportive space, and we wish you strength to move forward, the freedom to be yourself, and many moments of peace and joy ahead.

Can you notice the season quietly changing?

1st August marks Lammas🌾, a traditional harvest festival that celebrates the first harvest of the year and gives thanks to the land, nature, and the people who work with it.💐

As we move towards the harvest season, nature begins to show small signs of change. Beyond the more noticeable changes in temperature and daylight, the angle of the sunlight, the flowering of plants, and the formation of seeds and fruits are all quietly transforming.

Throughout the year, Reflective Walks witness the changes of Waterlow Park and Highgate Cemetery, observe the cycles of nature and life together.

Next time go for a walk, please take a moment to notice what is changing around you, and within you.

This week, in the peaceful surroundings of Highgate Cemetery, our Bereavement Group met again

The invitation for this walk was to experience nature through the sense of smell. The group noticed flowers, herbs, and essential oils, taking time to reflect on how different scents can evoke memories and emotions. Together we explore these experiences in a safe and supportive space.

When we smell a familiar smell, the part of the brain responsible for holding on to these memories goes looking for the first time it experienced the smell. For many people experiencing grief, certain smells can bring back memories of someone they have lost.

A familiar scent can remind us that love continue. 🌿

☀️🌳Today, we met again in Waterlow Park for our monthly Reflective Walk. With led by Emma and Oli.

On the grass, we began with gentle breathing and stretching exercises to help our bodies and minds relax. These are simple practices that can also be used in everyday life. We then shared a quiet space for conversation and reflection, with no pressure to speak.

To finish, we walked through the western side of Highgate Cemetery for the first time. Set on a hillside, this historic green space offered a peaceful place to slow down, notice our surroundings, and reflect among centuries of history.

In International Self-Care Day, a simple self-care note for wherever you are:

Find a place where sunlight meets the shade of a tree, and pause for a moment.
Listen to the birds.
Feel the breeze on your face.
With clean hands, gently touch your cheek. Notice the warmth, the texture of your skin, or any other sensations you become aware of.
……

Small moments of gentle attention like these may help ease stress and bring you back to the present.
Self-care is simply making yourself feel a little more at ease. Welcome to share your own ways of caring for yourself in the comments.

Today, Reflective Walks Bereavement Group returned to the same paths with the same people. The space felt more settled as familiar faces gathered again.

Today‘s invitation was to connect with our own presence through listening sense. We practised grounding and a simple listening meditation in a quiet clearing among the tall grasses. With eyes closed, listened to the crickets, felt the gentle warmth of the sun and the cool breeze, the sounds and sensations around us to become clearer.

All gentle practices we explore together on our walks can also be used in everyday life, when you need a moment to pause. And whenever you feel like walking with others, you‘ll always be welcome at Reflective Walks.
