Our Harv’s at the Southend car meet Saturday ♥️

It’s been a while hasn’t it!

It’s been a rollercoaster 🎢 from high running emotions to physical exhaustion, a house move and to be honest I’m still not ready to go through it all just yet, so I wanted to say Harv’s has had some incredibly testing and hard times and as a family also. BUT he’s doing sooo much better now ♥️ He started his 6th cycle two weeks ago, his final cycle of chemotherapy. Plus 2 catch up weeks due to cancellation from being too poorly to go ahead with treatment as planned.

We’re almost at the end post know guys ♥️🙏🏽

Then prosthesis 🦵✨

Anyway! Enjoy this clip of Harv’s going down the strip with his mate Ash at the Southend car meet Saturday! 🚗💨

We’re so grateful for your support ♥️

Good afternoon!

Hope you’re ready for a long post!! 😉

I think it’s about time we gave you an update!

Since Harv’s leg amputation, he has been healing so, so well externally and internally, one thing that has been a big struggle for him is learning to live with just one leg and I’ll be honest it’s been super tough for him, remained in great spirits most of the time. The times where he’s been low is where he’s lost his immediate independence. What I mean by that is just being able to get out of bed and pop to the toilet for instance, go and get himself a drink or something to eat. It’s been a lot mentally for him to accept for the time being.

He’s grateful the cancer has been removed obviously but any time we may need to go out for appointments or a pop down the shops. Just isn’t that simple anymore and it’s a lot to come to terms with. ♥️

Phantom pains have been an absolute basket case to be honest and it took a good month for the pain to be well managed. They started him on amitriptyline when he was in hospital the week after his surgery which ended up being nowhere near enough so they put him on 300mg of gabapentin 3x a day, this still wasn’t doing as much as it could to relieve him of the constant phantom pains or Zaps as he likes to call it! So they upped them to 600mg 3x a day and that seems to have settled things down to a far more comfortable situation.

We came home 6 days after the amputation so had another week at home before round 3 of chemo starting. We go for the first week of chemo on his 3rd round got home on the Friday and he was doing ok all things considered.

He had his check up scans between his op and his 3rd round of chemo, everything came back good on his lungs and his renal functions but his heart was showing signs of struggling a little from the intense chemo so they put him on two heart meds bisoprolol and remipril, nothing permanent just to see if helps support his heart which it has been and hopefully he can come off of them soon.

2 weeks after his leg surgery he had to be taken in to hospital as his appendix decided to rupture!! 🙄 Not what he needed bless his heart!
So he had to have emergency surgery to remove his appendix. That then lead to a 2 week recovery of the keyhole surgery which meant his chemo had to be put back 2 weeks. He was not happy but not much else we could do you know?

It’s now a week before Christmas, he’s now got to have chemo all throughout Christmas, new year week and the 2nd week into the new year.

He did however manage to turn on the Christmas lights in rayne which was so nice, what a wonderful turnout. Thank you to everyone at the Welsh princess you did amazing! ♥️

I would also like to thank everyone that put on the fundraiser at the Eagle! Honestly under those crappy weather conditions the turnout was absolutely incredible too, so thank you so much for your support there too! ♥️

And also a big shout out to Laney for the tunes once again! And a massive thank you to Nayling Road lights as well for supporting Harvey! ♥️

He’s frustrated and all he wanted was a ‘normal’ Christmas, not going to lie it broke me knowing that he couldn’t just ‘be normal’ for Christmas at least. Cancer is relentless and there are no days off! We are just so grateful for his oncology team and even though it’s a crap situation they hold so much love and compassion at all times and to be honest it really does help so, so much. ♥️

Last week Harvey started his 4th round of chemo! Can you believe it! He’s already smashed 3 rounds with more than a few bumps in the road but he’s here, we’re here! Over half way through his recovery journey now! We’re on the home straight and it feels so amazing to be able to say that. Because in July last year of his diagnosis I was honestly thinking how the f*ck are we going to get through these next 6-8 months..??!!!!

So anyway that pretty much brings us up to date!

We had a meeting with his consultant last week and she expressed how proud and happy she is of Harvey and the progress that he is making and that really did help him and cheer him on that he’s smashing the granny out of this one day at a time! She mentioned starting to get the ball rolling with a prosthetic!! Which is AMAZINGGGGG!!! So hopefully he won’t have to wait too much longer. 😊

This past week we have been down with the lurgies which hasn’t been the kindest! But we’re getting there! He’s got the rest of this week off, next week off then back at it the week after! And get this he had the last of one of his chemos last week so these next few months we don’t have to stay down in london 3 weeks of every month only 2 and one day! How amazing is that! ♥️

One chemo off the list another 2 to go!!

I would like to apologise for the lack of updates, I just mentally haven’t really known what to say or how to word it. Christmas time is a funny old time for quite a few of us and I just didn’t have the mental capacity to come on and update as much as I would have liked to. It’s just a lot, life is a lot in general without having a young adult hit with such a nasty illness.

I’m sure you all understand anyway!! ♥️

I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and we are wishing you all an amazing new year, better health, better choices and moving with gratitude and abundance. 🫶🏽✨

This year is OUR year!! Onwards and upwards!!

Afternoon all!

Hope everyone’s keeping well and warm! What happened to the weather…??!!! 🥶

Was a tiring week for our Harv’s, appetite has been thrown off by the chemo and the phantom Zaps ⚡️⚡️⚡️ and burning sensations in his ghost leg.

This week he has been put on Gabapentin to try and help with all of the phantom pains, which will be great in the long run but right now the same as the amitriptyline it can take a couple of weeks for him to feel the affects of both medications.

This week he had doxorubicin and Cisplatin chemo, C1 cycle, the one that completely wipes him out mentally and physically so he’s done a lot of sleeping. He has been keeping up with Stumpy’s physio making sure his hip flex continues to be as mobile as it possibly can be.

We are now home for two weeks, a whole two weeks at home! Bliss! Woohoo 🥳 Semi normality! ♥️

Have a blessed weekend all!!

It’s nearly Christmas! 🎄

Well here we are! After a lovely quiet, chilled week at home we’re back on our travels to UCLH MacMillan Cancer centre for Harvs 3rd chemo round! It’s the really crappy ones this week Doxorubicin and Cisplatin. 🤮 but! Another round started is another round under the belt, another round closer to it all being over with!!

New day, new week, another chance at life!!
So make everyday count, always.

Have a great week all. ♥️♥️♥️

Harvs managed to whoop my ass last night at pool!! 🤣 even with ‘Stumpy’ as he calls it!

It’s so good to be home 🏠 so nice to see Samuel and the furbabies 🥰

Harvs has come on so much these last 2 days, he’s really doing so well all things considered.

Yesterday he had more intense Physio, he was taught how to get up off the floor incase of a fall, he was shown how to move stumpy to keep the movement in his hip whilst recovering and to make sure he has the best movement when he gets his prosthetic fitted after chemo next year.
He has to wait until then due to the fluid retention he gets during chemo. He also has to wear a compression sock on stumpy until then to keep the swelling down and heal in the correct shape ready for prosthetic.

He’s come home with painkillers, blood thinner injections, a freestanding toilet frame to help him on and off the toilet. Do’s, don’t’s.. blah blah (I won’t bore you all with the small things🙃).

But for now we are just soaking up being at home with Samuel, home comforts, a pizza on order and crap on TV… BLISS. 🥰

We have a week at home then straight into chemo… awh… feels never ending at times. 😮‍💨

Anyway! I’m off to stuff my face! Just me and my boys together. ♥️

And remember..

hug your loved ones extra tight. 🫶🏽

After a tender couple of days trying to get Harvey’s pain under control from an above the knee amputation due to having an Osteosarcoma diagnosis is finally under control and he was able to not only get dressed, but also shift out of bed into his wheelchair! First day getting dressed in his own clothes since Monday and going outside for some fresh air and even shoot some hoops in the basketball courts!

It’s been a slow few days for him with lots of phantom pains and just general pain from the operation. His morphine has now been upped to 10mg every 4hrs, with an extra 5mg inbetween as well as paracetamol. He’s eating well, drinking well and overall doing so much better today ♥️

He then went to the physio gym on the ward to start some light exercise (walking with the rails)
It’s fair to say he did amazing and felt so much better for it!

Today he also had his drains removed and had his first experience of gas and air, of which he was just hilarious 🤣 as always! Nothing gets this boy down for long! He asked the nurse if he could call her a b*tch if the drain hurt coming out 🤦🏼‍♀️ and she said yes just once! Then she knows it’s the gas and air talking and not personal 😅 bless her. He barely felt them coming out but asked if he could have the G&A for a minute more 🤣 she agreed on 30 secs extra whilst she does the last bit. Haha I wish I could have recorded it, giggling like a school boy in infant school!

Dressing has also been removed now so we can actually see how much of his leg was removed up the femur. He has a little over a half of it left, wonderfully neat wound, minimal bruising. Mr Bayliss has done an amazing job ♥️

Anyway that’s enough chattering for one day! I’m off to chill for the evening. Will update you all again soon. ♥️🙏🏽
