I’d been thinking for so long that I am the pain.

I couldn’t be in a room without leading with the damage for so long that I can’t even remember.

But the pain is the event: It is something that happened to you in the past. It does not own your whole life.

You are the survivor: You carry strength because you made it through the hard times.

Your identity: You are defined by your power to keep going, not by the hurt you felt.

I spent years trying to be the right temperature for everyone.

Cool when they needed peace. Hot when they needed energy. Light when they needed distraction. Sweet when they needed comfort.
I exhausted myself becoming a different drink for every room.

Then I stopped trying to be anyone’s cup of tea.

I bought my own cup. I made my own temperature. I poured myself into it.
And I finally tasted like me.

What temperature have you been trying to be for everyone else?

I read this book while still performing strength.

I underlined every line. I bought the journal. I made the vision board.

And then I went back to performing.

Because vulnerability isn’t a concept.

It’s a somatic event.

Your body has to believe it’s safe to be seen. Your nervous system has to allow it.

Until you do the actual work — the body work, the breath work, the deep work — the words just stay on the page.

Which one of Brené’s quotes have you underlined but not lived?

Every now and again I asked myself this and
I didn’t have a real answer.
One, that would feel authentic and true to me.

My “one wild and precious life” had been spent doing the safe thing. The expected thing. The thing that made everyone else comfortable.

Then one year I stopped answering the question and started asking it differently.

Not “what do I want to do with my life” but “what does the wild part of me want to do today?”

And the answer sounded different. Smaller. Truer.

I used to think that the inner critic was THE enemy.

Then I realised: it was just the part of me that was never promised I’d be okay.

It learned to attack me so no one else could hurt me more. I’d never trust anyone. So I’d never be seen. So I’d never have to feel the embarrassment of rejection or failure. Because in my early age creativity, healthy relationships and being seen were things that were not available to me.

So years on and I realised that The critic isn’t the enemy. It’s the child who never got told she’d be safe trying even if she fails.

What’s the voice in your head actually trying to protect you from?

This is the sentence that broke me open.

Not the affirmations. Not the visualisation. The apology.

The moment I looked at my younger self and said, you didn’t deserve any of it, and I’m here now, something in my chest unlocked that had been clenched for 30 years.

Reparenting isn’t about becoming a perfect mother to yourself. It’s about stopping the conversation where your inner child is still waiting for someone to come back and say the thing.

She’s still waiting.

Go say it.

What’s the sentence your younger self is still waiting to hear?

I spent years trying to capture the moment.
Prove I’d been there. Earn the trip. Show I deserved it.

Then one morning I sat by the pool with a coffee and just… stayed.
No photo. No story. No caption in my head.
And the whole thing, the water, the sun, the fact that I was alive and seeing it, was enough.

What’s the moment you stopped performing and just stayed?

The subconscious hears this and panics.

Not because it wants the wrong person but because your nervous system has been conditioned to mistake inconsistency for love.

The “almost” relationship.
The one who’s always busy.
The one who loves you in moments, then disappears for days.
The one who makes you believe you have to earn their affection.

When that’s familiar, being alone can feel threatening.
So even crumbs of attention start to feel like safety. Your subconscious will always chose the familiar over the unfamiliar so your job is to make the unfamiliar-familiar.

The greatest lesson (and Dua Lipa’s advice ) I ever learned was this:
Choosing myself is a blessing. I made familiar that I can be alone and still not be lonely.
I gave myself permission to wait for the love I no longer have to chase. I made familiar that my happiness doesn’t depend on external factors but rather on my own ability to experience the world-inside and outside.

The right person won’t require you to abandon yourself to be chosen.

When was the last time you chose solitude over almost-love?

06/08/2026

I spent years treating “I can do hard things” like a personal gospel. As if quitting was failing. As if rest was weakness. As if choosing ease was cheating.

Then one year I chose to stop doing hard things just to prove I could.

I chose the easy morning. The client who felt good. The friend who didn’t require performance. The relationship that didn’t cost me everything.

Hard wasn’t the badge. Hard was the pattern.
There is so much freedom on the other side of “I don’t have to do this just because I can.”

What’s the hard thing you keep doing just because you can?
