Today, 1st March is International Wheelchair Day. It is also the official birthday of Rethinking Access.
At Rethinking Access the ultimate vision is to create a more inclusive and accessible world for disabled people. A world where disabled people can thrive - spending time and money in places and spaces that make a positive difference to their lives.
In order to achieve this, it is clear that organisations and businesses need support. Support not only in understanding different disabilities but delivering solutions which enhance accessibility, improve customer satisfaction and drive business growth.
And of course disability, whether visible or hidden, comes in many forms. Meeting the access needs of a person with mobility challenges is different from someone with hearing loss and different again from someone with learning disabilities or sensory processing differences, but there are many overlaps. It is about acknowledging that accessibility is meeting physical, environmental AND psychological needs. It is not just ramps - and that is where Rethinking Access can help.
