Pip Black and Joan Murphy are on a mission to make fitness fun.

Both Pip and Joan share the same work hard, play hard ethos and a history of enjoying sports at a competitive level. They met in 2007 on a surfing weekend in Cornwall with mutual friends and bonded over booze and fitness. Realising they were both equally demotivated by the gym offers available they started discussing the possibility of setting up a dynamic female friendly fitness studio and in 2009 Frame Shoreditch was born.

Changing the face of the British gym industry, the Frame family has grown, employing over 120 trainers across 5 sites in London with 2 more due to open this year.

Pip and Joan are two very successful, driven and focussed entrepreneurs. Hear them talk about how they started and how they got to where they are now.

We talk to Hackney residents James and Florence Kennedy who gave up their 9-5’s to follow their dreams to set up and run their own businesses.

In 2012 James set up Kennedy City Bicycles and became an urban bike manufacturer, hand building every bike ordered. Florence set up Petalon in 2013 an online flower delivery service sending bouquets across London by bike.

Since starting up there has been a marriage, a dog, a baby and a book along with a tonne of PR and hugely followed Instagram account.

James and Florence are living the modern version of the good life and are thriving on it. They remain calm, happy and focussed and can offer a huge amount of advice to anyone looking to set up on their own.
