They don't need a detox, a fat burner, a fitness watch, or a 30-day challenge.

Somewhere along the way, people started thinking health was about weight loss.

It's not.

Health is having the energy to get through the day without needing three coffees.

It's being strong enough to carry your shopping, play with your kids, and enjoy your life.

It's sleeping well. Moving well. Feeling confident. Having a body that supports the life you want to live.

That's why we encourage our clients to lift weights.

Yesterday I had the privilege of watching one of my clients, and now a good friend, get married.

When Callie first walked through the doors of Lakeview around a year and a half ago, I don't think she realised what she was capable of.

Since then she's lost a few stone, transformed her health, built incredible strength and, more importantly, found a level of confidence that wasn't there before.

What makes me proud isn't just the physical transformation. It's the consistency she's shown. Week after week, month after month, she turned up, put the work in and trusted the process.

As coaches, we can write programmes, give advice and provide support, but the results only come when someone is willing to do the work. Callie has done exactly that from day one.

Standing there yesterday, seeing how happy she was, stronger, fitter, healthier and more confident than ever, was a reminder of why I love what I do.

I'm incredibly proud of everything you've achieved, Callie. Not just because of the weight you've lost or the strength you've gained, but because of the person you've become throughout the journey.

Most people don't fail because they don't know what to do.

They fail because they never fully commit to doing it.

They show up when they feel motivated. They make good choices when it's convenient. They put effort in when they're in the mood.

Then they wonder why nothing changes.

The truth is, your body is always responding to what you repeatedly do.

Not what you intend to do. Not what you say you're going to do. What you actually do.

At Lakeview, we encourage our members to strength train because strength training isn't about becoming bulky.

It's about becoming capable.

It's about having the strength to carry shopping bags without struggling. To keep up with your children and grandchildren. To protect your body as you get older. To maintain muscle, bone density, confidence and independence.

And the stronger you become, the better life tends to feel.
But training is only one piece of the puzzle.

You can't out-train habits that don't support your goals.

The people who get the best results aren't usually the most talented.

They're the ones who decide they're worth the effort.

They stop waiting. They stop negotiating with themselves.
They stop starting over.

And they start showing up consistently.

This might genuinely be one of my favourite photos we've ever taken at Lakeview.

Not because of the gym. Not because of the workout.

Because of what's happening in the background.

Three kids sitting watching their mums train.

Watching them show up. Watching them work hard. Watching them get stronger.

As a dad of three myself, this one hits differently.

I know how busy life gets. I know how easy it is to put yourself to the bottom of the priority list. I know how many parents feel guilty taking an hour for themselves.

But looking after yourself isn't selfish.

It's one of the best things you can do for your family.

You're not just improving your own health, confidence, strength and energy levels.

You're setting an example.

You're teaching your children that exercise is normal. That being strong is a good thing. That health matters. That looking after yourself should be a priority.

The kids in this photo probably won't remember what exercises their mums were doing.

But they'll remember seeing them show up.

That's exactly why we run our 9.30am Small Group PT sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with babies welcome.

Because sometimes the biggest obstacle to getting fitter, stronger and healthier isn't motivation.

It's childcare.

At Lakeview, we try to remove as many barriers as possible.

Whether your goal is to lose body fat, build strength, improve your fitness or simply feel better in your own skin, we've created an environment where you can work on yourself without feeling like you have to choose between your health and your family.

Let's talk about diet.

Most people think they need a harder workout.

More sweat. More burpees. More running. More HIIT. More punishment.

But that's usually not the problem.

This photo wasn't the result of some crazy training plan.

I didn't train twice a day. I didn't spend hours doing cardio. I didn't suddenly start smashing Hyrox sessions every day.

I lifted weights 3-5 times per week. I walked 10-15k steps a day. I drank my water. I got my sleep. I played football once a week.

That's it.

The thing that changed wasn't my training.

It was my diet.

Think of it this way...

Training is what tells your body to build and keep muscle.

Diet is what determines whether the body fat covering that muscle comes off.

You can train hard 5 days a week, but if you're eating too much, the body fat isn't going anywhere.

That's why so many people feel like they're working incredibly hard but don't look much different months later.

They're winning the hour they spend in the gym but losing the other 23 hours of the day.

When I got lean for this photoshoot, the goal wasn't to burn as many calories as possible.

The goal was to keep as much muscle as possible while losing body fat.

That's why I focused on strength training.

The weights told my body:

"Keep this muscle. We still need it."

The calorie deficit did the fat loss.

Not endless cardio.

Not magic workouts.

Not supplements.

Just consistent nutrition alongside progressive strength training.

I love running, Hyrox, football, Pilates and conditioning work. They all have huge benefits.

But if your goal is to build a strong, lean body, they should support your strength training, not replace it.

If you're not getting the results you want, don't automatically look for a tougher workout.

Look at your nutrition first.

Because most people don't have a training problem.

They have a consistency problem with their food.

It's not that your workouts aren't working.

It's that your nutrition isn't matching the effort.

Until your food reflects your goals, you'll keep spinning your wheels.

The workout doesn't need to be perfect.
The run doesn't need to be fast.
The weight doesn't need to be heavy.

You just need to show up.
