Whether you're jetting off abroad or enjoying the UK sunshine, a little preparation can help keep you safe and healthy.

Protect your skin:
✅ Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and reapply regularly.
🕶️ Wear a hat, sunglasses, and seek shade during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm).
Don't let insect bites spoil your trip:
✅ Use an effective insect repellent, especially when travelling overseas.

🍷 Alcohol Awareness Week (6–12 July 2026)
A national campaign led by Alcohol Change UK. This year's theme is "Alcohol and me", encouraging everyone to take a moment to think about how alcohol affects their health and wellbeing.
Drinking more than the recommended amount can increase the risk of:
✅ High blood pressure
✅ Liver disease
✅ Certain cancers
✅ Poor sleep
✅ Anxiety and low mood
To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level if you drink most weeks:
✅ men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis.
✅ spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week.
✅ if you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week.
✅ 14 units is equivalent to 6 pints of average-strength beer or 10 small glasses of lower-strength wine.
Top tips for drinking more safely:
🥤 Have alcohol-free days each week.
💧 Alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soft drinks.
🍽️ Eat before and while drinking.
📏 Keep track of how many units you drink.
🚗 Never drink and drive.
