Beach ready
But what does beach ready actually mean?
It doesn’t have to mean ripped abs, a completely flat stomach or a “perfect” body.
My stomach rolls when I sit down. I have stretch marks all over from pregnancy and from being overweight for many years. My body isn’t perfect, I never aimed for it to be.
Most importantly it’s happy. It’s healthy. I have a completely different relationship with food now.
I know how it feels to be overweight, unhappy and unhealthy. I know what it feels like to avoid photos, hide your body and constantly feel like you’re not good enough.
So yes, I’m proud of the changes I’ve made, but I’m also proud that I’ve learned to appreciate the body that got me here. Because weight loss isn’t easy, I’ve been there I’ve done the work, I’ve experienced the 0 self esteem that being over weight brings, the mind games you have to play as you sacrifice comfort for change. It’s one of those things that unless you know you know, it not just calorie deficit and getting in the gym, it’s so much more complex for someone whose struggled with food addiction or binge eating. But most importantly for me I’ve maintained. 7 years no yo-yo dieting, a quiet mind and a great relationship with food. That’s more important to me than being ‘bikini ready’. The goal should always be the healthiest version of YOU!
