Most companies have values on a wall.

At Igloo Thermo Logistics, they’re lived every day.

This is Leigh Ogley, our Operations Director, standing next to three words that shape everything we do:

Service. Excellence. Teamwork.

But these aren’t just words for us.

Service means showing up when it matters most. Keeping deliveries moving, solving problems fast, and supporting our customers when the pressure is on.

Excellence is in the detail, from temperature control and vehicle checks to how every pallet is handled. Because in cold-chain logistics, small mistakes have big consequences.

Teamwork is what holds it all together. Drivers, planners, warehouse teams and customer service working as one to deliver consistently, day in, day out.

It’s easy to print values.

It’s harder to operate by them.

That’s the difference.

And it’s why businesses trust us with their temperature-controlled deliveries across the UK.

It might look simple.

But standards in cold-chain logistics show up in small details.

Vehicle cleanliness is one of them.

In food transport, presentation isn’t about image. It reflects discipline. It reflects care. It reflects how seriously a business takes product integrity.

Our fleet is maintained to a high standard because temperature control and hygiene go hand in hand.

Clean vehicles, well-maintained equipment, and attention to detail all play their part in protecting the chain.

It’s part of doing the job properly.

A smaller fleet.
A tighter team.
Big ambition.

We were still building then. Learning as we went. Putting the right habits in place.

Cold-chain work isn’t loud. It’s early mornings, long days, and quiet consistency.

Looking back at this photo reminds us how far we’ve come.

Different scale today.

Same commitment.

The Other day we had the pleasure of recognising something that does not happen overnight.
15 years of service.

Alistair Turner, Our CEO presented a long service certificate to one of our drivers to mark the milestone, and it was a good reminder of what keeps a logistics business steady.
Fifteen years of early starts.
Fifteen years of keeping the cold chain intact.
Fifteen years of showing up and doing the job properly.

In an industry that moves quickly, loyalty and consistency matter. They protect standards. They protect relationships. And they protect the reputation we have built over time.

To reach 15 years with one company says a lot about the individual. It also says something about the team around them.

Thank you for the commitment, professionalism and steady contribution over the years. It does not go unnoticed.
Congratulations on the milestone.

Big step forward for our team today.

We’ve officially launched our brand-new training classroom at our Luton B depot — now a dedicated training hub for both new starters and refresher courses.

Over the past year, we’ve rebuilt our training plan from the ground up. New videos. Clearer systems. Stronger standards.

Today, 5 of our existing drivers completed their refresher session and received their certificates. But more importantly, we listened.

Real feedback from the road helps us improve what happens behind the scenes.

Better training =
Safer deliveries.
Stronger compliance.
Better culture.

This is just the beginning. 🚛❄️

Most refrigerated loads don’t fail because the fridge breaks.
That surprises people.
In reality, many temperature issues happen even when the refrigeration unit is working perfectly.
Here’s why:
A refrigerated unit doesn’t cool products.
It removes heat from the air.

So when:
• Airflow is blocked by poor loading
• Pallets are pushed hard against walls
• Warm product is loaded late
• Doors are opened repeatedly
• Vans are overfilled “just this once”

The system struggles and not because it’s faulty, but because it can’t do its job properly.
Cold air needs space to move.
Heat needs time to be removed.

At Igloo, we focus just as much on:

✔️ Loading methods
✔️ Airflow management
✔️ Driver behaviour
✔️ Journey planning

…as we do on the refrigeration unit itself.

Because in temperature-controlled transport,
process protects the product, not just the fridge!

If you rely on chilled or frozen transport, it’s worth asking:

👉 Is your cold chain designed… or just assumed?

Before any refrigerated journey starts, we check more than just the temperature.
Because a set point on a screen doesn’t protect a load.
Process does.
Before our vans leave site, we’re checking things like:

• Is the unit pre-cooled and stable?
• Is the correct temperature set for the product?
• Is airflow clear at the ceiling and return air?
• Is the load suitable and spaced correctly?
• Is the product already at temperature?
• Are doors, seals, and closures secure?
• Does the journey plan minimise door openings and dwell time?

These checks take minutes but they prevent hours of problems later.
At Igloo Thermo Logistics, temperature control starts before the engine turns over.
Because in chilled and frozen transport,
preparation protects the product.

If you rely on temperature-controlled delivery, it’s worth asking:

👉 What’s being checked before your goods are collected?

Cold chain failures don’t start on the road. They start with misunderstanding.
Most people think refrigerated transport is just:
“Put it in a chilled van and drive.”
It isn’t.
Inside every refrigerated van, there’s a full cooling system working constantly:

• Compressing refrigerant
• Removing heat
• Circulating air evenly
• Monitoring temperature in real time

Cold isn’t created, heat is removed.

That’s why:

👉 Door openings matter
👉 Load placement matters
👉 Airflow matters
👉 Driver habits matter

A perfectly good refrigerated unit can still fail if airflow is blocked or loading is wrong.
At Igloo, we don’t just move temperature-controlled goods.
We protect product integrity from collection to delivery.
Because in chilled and frozen logistics,
“almost right” isn’t good enough.

If you rely on temperature-controlled transport, ask yourself:

Do you really know what’s happening inside the van?

Refrigerated transport tends to get most of the attention in cold-chain logistics.
But storage is often where consistency is really protected.
It’s where products pause between movements.
Where temperature discipline matters just as much as speed.
And where small lapses can undo a lot of good work further down the line.
For us, refrigerated storage isn’t a separate function from transport.
It’s part of the same responsibility, keeping food within spec from the moment it enters the chain until it reaches its destination.
When storage and transport are planned together, the rest of the chain becomes far more predictable.

Most chilled and frozen deliveries don’t fail on the road.
They fail before the vehicle even moves.
The issue is usually handover.
Product waiting too long.
Doors opening and closing.
Temps not checked properly at the right moment.
By the time it’s “in transit”, the damage is already done.
This is why cold chain logistics isn’t just about vehicles.
It’s about process.
We see this every week.
If you move chilled or frozen goods, it’s worth checking where your real risk sits.

A food business needs nationwide next-day chilled deliveries, seven days a week.
Multiple collection points.
Tight retailer delivery windows.
Zero tolerance for temperature drift.
On paper, it sounds straightforward.

In reality, it’s the kind of operation where small planning mistakes quietly turn into big problems later on.

That’s why the real work happens before the first vehicle moves, route design, depot coordination, load sequencing, and clear escalation when something changes.
When those pieces are in place, deliveries just happen in the background.
When they aren’t, the risk only shows up after the damage is done.

27/01/2026

Dedicated refrigerated transport and shared chilled networks both have their place.
The key is knowing which one your operation actually needs.
Dedicated vehicles make sense when volumes are consistent, routes are fixed, and timing is critical.
Shared networks work well when demand fluctuates and flexibility matters more than exclusivity.
Problems usually start when the wrong model is used for the wrong operation.
In food logistics, the right choice isn’t about preference, it’s about protecting temperature, service levels, and customer trust. 😇
