August is Psoriasis Awareness Month and if you or someone close to you lives with psoriasis, you will know that it is about far more than skin.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition, but what many people notice is how closely it tracks with stress. Flare-ups often coincide with periods of anxiety, tension, or significant change and the mind-body connection is difficult to ignore.

Bowen cannot treat psoriasis. What it can do is work with the nervous system to help reduce the physical and physiological effects of stress, encouraging the body into a calmer, more regulated state. For some people, that makes a meaningful difference to how they feel day to day.

Every person is different, and we are always careful not to make promises we cannot keep. Bowen works best as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, conventional care.

If you live with a long-term condition and would like to talk about whether Bowen might support your overall wellbeing, please drop us a DM, a comment or go to our website: http://collegeofbowenstudies.co.uk

💧 Is Your Fascia Thirsty?

Did you know that fascia is made up of around 70% water? That makes hydration one of the simplest things you can do for your body every single day.

When fascia is well hydrated, it stays supple, pliable and able to glide smoothly. But when dehydrated, fascia becomes sticky, thick and less elastic, leaving you feeling stiff, achy or tired.

Research has shown that when fascia becomes dehydrated, fascial planes can adhere together, preventing fluidity of movement and causing symptoms such as stiffness and pain.

And here's the important part drinking water alone isn't enough. We also have to get that water out to the tissues through movement.

Gentle, whole-body movements help stimulate the flow of interstitial fluid, ensuring the fascial system stays supple and responsive.

This is one of the reasons we always encourage clients to drink plenty of water after a Bowen session and to keep gently moving throughout the day. 💙

Small habits. Big difference.

👇 How much water do YOU drink each day? Let us know in the comments! 💧 💧 💧

Had a Bowen session? Don’t forget the aftercare.

💙 Drink plenty of water
💙 Keep gently moving
💙 Avoid long periods of sitting still

Water - As a result of Bowen, the body increases blood supply to nerve endings and affects the movement of lymph around the body. The effective functioning of these systems is entirely reliant on sufficient fluids. Fluid intake is therefore essential following a Bowen treatment.

Movement - Bowen helps the body to eliminate waste. Getting up and moving on the day of your session, assists with the movement of lymph, around the body. Lymph removes all kinds of debris from the system, as well as moving fluid. It doesn't have its own pump, so the lymphatic system relies on regular movement and muscular contraction.

Following this simple Bowen aftercare advice, will give your body the best possible opportunity to repair and rebalance.

Small actions - big difference. 👍

World IBS Day 🌿

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can have a real impact on daily life - from discomfort and bloating to ongoing stress and fatigue.

The Bowen Technique offers a gentle, whole-body approach that may help support those living with IBS. By working through the fascia and encouraging relaxation of the nervous system, Bowen aims to help reduce overall tension in the body - something that can play a role in digestive health.

While not a treatment or cure for IBS, Bowen can be a supportive therapy, helping the body find balance and encouraging a sense of calm.

Bowen could be therapy to solve your back pain. Call Judith on 07505 000724 to book

Back pain… so many people just live with it. 😕

Maybe you’ve tried stretching, pain relief, new chairs, different pillows… even just “putting up with it” and hoping it eases on its own but when discomfort becomes part of your daily routine, it can start to affect everything; how you move, how you sleep, even your mood.

That’s where Bowen can make a real difference. 🙌

Using gentle, precise movements, Bowen works with your body - not against it - helping to release tension, reset muscle patterns and support your body’s natural healing response. It’s not about forcing change, it’s about encouraging the body to rebalance itself.

Many people are surprised at just how subtle it feels… and how effective it can be.

If backache has become something you’ve learned to live with, it might be time to try a different approach.

✨ Your body knows how to heal - sometimes it just needs the right support. 💙
