The Hungry Girl Victoria is a writer, academic researcher, former pro bikini competitor, and lifelong hungry girl.

Here you can find her work regarding our complex relationships with our food and our bodies. Having developed anorexia nervosa aged 11, Victoria has 26 years’ personal experience with body dysmorphia and eating disorders. She has written extensively on these subjects, beginning with her PhD research on the medicalisation of self-starvation in the nineteenth century; and its presentation in contemp

orary literature and culture. In her late 20s, Victoria became a bikini competitor and fitness model and subsequently directed her research towards eating disorders and body dysmorphia within the aesthetics-driven world of fitness competitions. By sharing her academic writing and personal experiences via her podcast and blog, Victoria aims to provide support for others in their journey towards developing a better relationship with food and their bodies.
