Rise and Wild

Sharing days with my little love 🌳 Introducing her to the woods, to the trees, to the friendship and folklore and stories that I know of the great Oak. There’s so much joy watching the wonder in her eyes as the light changes, the way she drinks it all in. Being here, with the squirrels and the birds and the leaves as they change, autumn underway & the earth working its magic underfoot.

Whilst I take a little break from guiding nature-based gatherings, walks, teachings and trainings, it’s such a gift to be sharing these wild ways with my little acorn 🍂🧚🐿️♥️🙏🏼

It’s that time of year 🍂 Summer has been falling into autumn, baking hot days cooling into lighter, brighter in a way, September mornings. Mist now lingers for longer and the dark settles in, quietly asking us to notice. Things are changing out there, as they always are; inside the house and home of our bodies too.

Autumn invites space, a slowing down and a change of pace, a place to gather, forage and reflect for the season ahead. Have you yet taken the bait?

Throughout life, change has been both my enemy and my ally. The most recent journey from maiden to motherhood felt like a tornado of sorts, demanding such deep rest and surrender all of winter, spring and summer. When the dust settled and pregnancy became postpartum, those endured, changing seasons offered up the greatest gift of my lifetime.

The rain comes and quenches the thirst of parched lands. The morning returns, bringing light back to the night’s darkest corners. Robin will sing and cuckoo will quieten, for that we can be sure. Now, the green canopy of the trees are changing, and with it comes an abundance of acorn, awe & anticipation. As we move into October, let’s celebrate more than just our wardrobes changing and find rhythm in this season’s way of being 🍄

Out for a morning walk as a family ♥️🙏🏼 Introducing our daughter, Indy River to Tegg’s Nose (more so the coffee shop ☕️🙊)

I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back with the trees & wandering with my girls. Going slowly, honouring new terrain and this body that carried and birthed a baby less than a couple of weeks ago. The explosion of love that is coursing through, beyond my own being and this heart that now lives outside my chest… Further still, to our friends and families, our village and community who have rallied around us celebrating this little soul joining the fold. How grateful I am to be here, how often I dreamed of this reality 💫

We are incredibly fortunate that the Fire, Rescue & many other Services were able to control the spread of this week’s fire at Macclesfield Forest 🌲🦌 Many other fires this summer, caused by human mistake and error, have caused much more destruction to the land, wild habitats and ecological health.

I’m all for encouraging people out into natural spaces and places when it is safe to do so (NOT when there are fires raging). But we should do so with a sense of responsibility, to nurture and care for the land. Do not take the risk of anything that ignites, especially into extremely dry environments… BBQs, ci******es, incense, tin foil. And please, please, please take everything home with you… the knowing that some people leave smouldering fires, discarded bbqs, food wrappers, even tents etc after their ventures continues to break and infuriate my heart.

We can do better.

MACCLESFIELD FOREST FIRE UPDATE | Please avoid the Macclesfield Forest area while this incident remains ongoing.

Firefighters and a helicopter are continuing to work at the scene, damping down hotspots and monitoring the area.

We have also found further evidence of disposable BBQs and campfires. With the ground and vegetation extremely dry, even a small spark can quickly start a fire and put people, wildlife and the environment at risk.

Six years of guiding these nature and wellbeing programmes for people and they still blow me away 💚🌿 Each one is different, shaped by the people who attend, their individualities and the land upon which we gather. Seasons turn, and guarantee nothing (we’ve had so much rain & many cold days on this most recent 6-week spring and early summer journey!)

The feedback we’ve received brought tears to my eyes, as it always does. Forever grateful to create, facilitate and guide these programmes and to the Green Angels team for their ongoing collaboration and support.

If you would like to find out about upcoming programmes, get in touch with me 🌱
