Depression doesn't always look like sadness. For many people it shows up as constant tiredness and a slow loss of interest in the things that once felt enjoyable. It can also feel like a quiet heaviness that makes everyday tasks harder to start. These experiences are common and they are valid.

Ever thought of journalling? It's a simple tool that you can start to do a few minutes a day and has been shown to have numerous emotional, mental and physical benefits 😊

Maybe start by getting yourself a nice book or if you prefer use notes on your phone or laptop.

Sit quietly and write about what is going on for you at the moment and your thoughts and feelings around it.

Getting things out of your head can really help with emotional regulation, understanding what your thinking and feeling, and realising you are not your thoughts! Research has shown that it can also boost immunity and help reduce pain.

I always talk to my clients about trying it particularly along side the process of therapy. It can help with focusing on what they want to achieve and get out of sessions.

So next time you're feeling stressed, conflicted, overwhelmed or struggling to understand something you're dealing with why not give it a go 😉
