A Few Highlights From April & May 📸

We try to keep life varied, and the last couple of months have certainly delivered...

☀️ Yoga on the deck – finally, some sunshine!

🚴 Back on the bike – enjoying the lighter evenings and finding another excuse for a coffee stop.

🔥 A London night away – including and .

✈️ Lisbon – celebrating a friend’s 50th and catching up with university mates.

🌿 Wellbeing Reset weekends – helping people take some time out and reset. (We’re back on 6th & 7th June.)

🎾 Padel – still playing (but not improving)

🎻 Live folk music at listening to Counter’s Creek– a brilliant evening in an intimate setting.

🚇 Half term adventures with Max exploring London’s disused Underground stations (followed by some shopping, of course!).

💃 A Bristol day rave – dancing, laughter and good company.

⚽ And for Tim, seeing Crystal Palace win the European Conference League wasn’t a bad way to round things off!

Looking back, it’s a pretty random mix of activities, but that’s exactly the point.

Travel, music, movement, friendship, family time, learning new things and saying yes to new experiences.

What have been your highlights from April and May?

At My Life Tonic, we’ve seen first-hand how powerful cold water can be for both physical and mental wellbeing — especially when combined with sauna and movement.

Cold water immersion may help:
💧 boost mood and energy
💧 support recovery and reduce aches
💧 improve focus and mental clarity
💧 help build resilience to stress
💧 leave you feeling refreshed and re-energised

But whilst the cold often gets all the attention, combining it with sauna (also known as contrast therapy) and yoga can make the experience even more beneficial.

The warmth of the sauna helps the body relax and recover, whilst yoga helps release tension, improve mobility, and gently reconnect mind and body.

And no… you don’t have to take it too seriously 😂- as Tim demonstrates in this video…

At My Life Tonic, our sessions are relaxed, welcoming and supportive — whether you’re completely new to cold water or already love the feeling.

We run:
🧘 Weekly 1-hour classes combining yoga, sauna & cold water
🌿 Longer 3-hour Wellbeing Reset workshops at our Cookham studio

Our next workshops take place:
📅 Saturday 6th June
📅 Sunday 7th June

Morning & afternoon sessions available

https://www.mylifetonic.com/3-hour-wellbeing-reset-days

The workshops have been really popular and some sessions are already filling up, though you’re very welcome to join the waiting list too.

If you’ve been curious about trying contrast therapy in a calm, friendly environment, we’d love to welcome you.

Any questions do get in touch...

Sometimes life just clicks… and you get that feeling you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Back in 2006, fresh from getting married, we set off on a belated (and slightly extended!) honeymoon to New Zealand. At the heart of it was one big goal… crossing the finish line at Ironman Taupo.

Looking back, that trip captured so much of what still shapes My Life Tonic today 👇

Being active

Training and racing an Ironman will do that… but it was more than that. Long bike rides exploring new landscapes, coastal runs, and unforgettable adventures—like floating down rapids in the South Island—reminded us how powerful movement and nature can be.

Friendship & community

A huge reason for heading to NZ was to share the experience with our great friends Jason and Kerryn. We didn’t race side by side—but going through it together, and being part of their world (and their wedding!) made it incredibly special.

Adventure
From the North Island to the South, this wasn’t just a race—it was a journey. A honeymoon, a celebration, and an unforgettable road trip all rolled into one.

Generosity

What stood out most was the warmth of the people. The openness, the pride, the welcome—we’ve carried that with us ever since and try to pass it on wherever we can.

Nearly 20 years on, those same themes—movement, connection, adventure, and giving back—are still at the heart of everything we do.

We haven’t made it back to New Zealand yet… but plans are quietly forming 👀 (this time with our teenage son—and maybe a rugby twist 🏉).

Throwbacks aren’t about living in the past—they’re about recognising the moments that shaped you.

More to come…

If you’re new here — or have been following us for a while — we thought it was a good moment to share a little more about what sits behind My Life Tonic.

For us, wellbeing is something we all talk about… but don’t always fully understand.

When life feels good, our wellbeing feels good. But when things feel off, it’s not always clear why — or where to start to get back on track.

And that’s often when we realise… we may have been taking it for granted.

🌿 Our Approach

At its core, My Life Tonic is about helping you understand what supports your wellbeing — and then offering simple, practical ways to maintain and improve it over time.

We draw on a mix of ideas and frameworks, including:
✨ The importance of habits
✨ The 5 Pillars of Wellbeing
✨ The Science of Wellbeing
But more importantly, we believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

🌿 Taking Action

Wellbeing looks different for everyone — and it can change over time.
Our role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to offer options and experiences that you can explore, at your own pace:
🧘 Yoga, meditation & breathwork
❄️ Cold water & sauna
🧠 Mindfulness practices (journaling, gratitude)
✨ Trying something new — being open, saying yes
🌿 How We Support You

Through My Life Tonic, we offer a range of ways to support your ongoing wellbeing:
Weekly classes (studio in Cookham & online)
On-demand library (yoga, HIIT, breathwork & more)
Wellbeing Reset sessions
The Wellbeing Scorecard (a simple starting point to check in)
1:1 sessions (online or in person)
You’ll also see glimpses of our travels and experiences — shared in the hope they inspire you to explore what works for you.

Ultimately, My Life Tonic is about helping you feel more balanced, energised and connected — in a way that fits your life.

And sometimes, it’s just as important for us to pause and remind ourselves why we do what we do 💛

There’s something incredibly powerful about combining movement, heat, breath, and recovery.

That’s one of the reasons our Wellbeing Reset sessions are built around yoga, sauna, and optional cold water immersion — helping both body and mind properly slow down and reset.

So why does combining yoga and sauna work so well together?
🧘 helping release physical tension
🔥 supporting relaxation and recovery
💭 calming a busy mind
😴 improving sleep and switching off

And whilst the sauna often gets the attention, we shouldn’t forget the benefits of cold water too — from boosting mood and energy to helping build resilience and mental clarity.

Our June Reset sessions are designed for people who are:
• feeling mentally overloaded
• struggling to fully relax
• spending too much time “on”
• or simply needing some proper time out

Each 3-hour session includes:
✔️ Two yoga sessions
✔️ Sauna
✔️ Optional cold water
✔️ Healthy snacks
✔️ Small supportive groups (max 8 people)

📅 Saturday 6th June 10am & 2pm spaces available
📅 Sunday 7th June Both sessions are now fully booked (you’re very welcome to join the waiting list)

£60 per person.

If it feels like something your mind and body would benefit from right now, we’d love to welcome you.

Sometimes the moments that have the biggest impact on our wellbeing are the ones we barely notice.

* A smile from a stranger.
* A quick chat with a neighbour.
* Saying thank you.
* Checking in on a friend.
* A friendly conversation while grabbing a coffee.

These everyday interactions may seem small, but they can make us feel more connected, valued, supported, and less alone.

At My Life Tonic, connection forms an important part of our Wellbeing Scorecard within the Community Connection category. We often think improving wellbeing requires major life changes, but in reality, small daily moments can have a powerful effect on our mental and emotional wellbeing.

Positive interactions help boost mood, reduce stress, increase feelings of belonging, and remind us that we are part of a wider community. In a world where many of us spend more time on screens and less time connecting face-to-face, these moments matter more than ever.

Sometimes a simple conversation can completely change the direction of someone’s day — including our own.

Everyday interactions also encourage us to slow down and become more present. They create opportunities for kindness, empathy, and human connection in the middle of busy lives.

You never truly know what someone else may be going through, and your smile, kindness, or conversation could be exactly what they needed that day.

So today, don’t underestimate the power of the small moments:
• Say hello
• Start the conversation
• Smile more
• Be present
• Check in on others

Because sometimes the simplest interactions create the greatest impact on wellbeing.

Cold water dipping has grown in popularity — and for good reason. Whether it’s the sea, a lake, or simply a cold shower at home, it’s a simple practice that can support both body and mind.

And the good news? You don’t need access to open water to start — a cold shower works just as well.

🌿 More Than Just a Dip

While often seen as a summer activity, dipping throughout the year offers even greater benefits. Over time, it becomes a practice — helping to build resilience, focus and a stronger connection to the present moment.

💪 Body & Mind Benefits

That initial cold shock is your body adapting. With regular exposure, many people notice improved circulation, reduced muscle soreness, and increased energy.

Mentally, it’s a powerful reset. Stepping into cold water encourages calm, controlled breathing and helps quiet a busy mind — often leaving you feeling clearer and more balanced afterwards.

🌊 Connection & Confidence

Dipping across the seasons brings a deeper connection to nature — from refreshing summer swims to the stillness of colder months.

There’s also a quiet confidence that comes from doing something challenging. Turning up regularly builds resilience and a sense of achievement that carries into everyday life.

🌿 Start Simple

You don’t need to stay in long — just a short exposure can make a difference. Start gently and build from there.

As we move into warmer months, now is a great time to begin and create a habit you can carry through the year.

Simple. Natural. Effective.

Sometimes it’s not about seeing everything… it’s about feeling something.

Our recent weekends in Prague came off the back of something we seem to be doing more of these days—celebrating the milestones of great friends. And while that meant we didn’t tick off every “must-see” sight, what we gained was something far more meaningful.

Looking back, it was another experience that quietly reflected what My Life Tonic is all about 👇

Connection & community

Time away with friends—proper, uninterrupted time—is rare. Making it happen (and coordinating life at home so we could fully switch off) made it even more special.

Shared moments, laughter, and yes… a few celebrations that are probably best left off social media 😉

Space to pause

Prague is no secret—it’s a popular destination for a reason. But step out early, or wander just a little off track, and you can find stillness in the middle of it all.

Quiet corners. Time to reflect. A slower pace, even if just for a moment.

Curiosity & discovery

Some of the best moments weren’t planned. Quite literally stumbling across the John Lennon Wall—a constantly evolving canvas of expression—was a reminder to stay open to whatever the journey brings.

Add in relaxed meals, local parks, and hidden pockets of history, and the city really began to reveal itself.

Movement & wellbeing

Wherever we go, we take a little of our routine with us. This time, it meant finding a local yoga studio—because feeling good doesn’t stop when you’re away… it just adapts.

These weekends weren’t about doing more—they were about being present.

A change of scene, time with people who matter, and reconnecting with the things we love.

If that’s not a tonic… we’re not sure what is.

More throwbacks to come…

Sleep is one of the most powerful wellbeing tools we have — yet it’s often the first thing we sacrifice when life gets busy.

Good quality sleep is not just about feeling rested. It affects our mental clarity, emotional resilience, immune system, energy levels, concentration, mood, and overall health.

When we consistently lack sleep, it can impact how we think, feel, work, connect with others, and cope with everyday stress.

Sleep is the body’s opportunity to recover, repair, and reset. During sleep, our brains process emotions and memories, while our bodies restore and recharge for the day ahead.

Prioritising sleep is not lazy or unproductive — it is an essential part of self-care and long-term wellbeing.

At My Life Tonic, sleep forms an important part of our Wellbeing Scorecard within the Lifestyle & Habits category.

Often, improving our wellbeing starts with small daily habits, and sleep is one of the most powerful habits we can change. When we improve our sleep, we often notice positive changes across many other areas of wellbeing too — including mood, stress levels, focus, motivation, physical health, and emotional resilience.

A good night’s sleep also makes early starts feel more achievable and enjoyable. Waking up refreshed gives us the opportunity to experience quiet moments before the busyness of the day begins — whether that’s watching the sunrise, enjoying a peaceful walk, sitting with a coffee, practising mindfulness, or simply taking a moment for ourselves.

These calm moments can help us feel grounded, present, and better prepared for the day ahead.

Sometimes the best opportunities are found in the quiet moments we would otherwise sleep through because we were too tired to begin the day well.
