Do you know your numbers?

This week is Know Your Numbers! Week, run by Blood Pressure UK, raising awareness of the importance of checking and understanding your blood pressure.

High blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms, which is why knowing your numbers is so important.

But what is blood pressure?

Quite simply, it’s the pressure of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood around your body. It’s normal for this pressure to change throughout the day, but when it stays too high over time, it puts extra strain on your heart and blood vessels and can increase your risk of serious health problems.

Alongside medical advice and recommended lifestyle changes, could reflexology also have a role to play?

Research into reflexology and blood pressure has shown some interesting results.

A 2022 review of 13 studies involving 819 participants found that foot reflexology was associated with reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, averaging around 4.6 mmHg and 3.3 mmHg respectively.

More recently, a 2025 meta-analysis involving 1,041 cardiovascular patients across 12 studies also found that reflexology significantly reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Reflexology is well recognised for promoting relaxation. When we relax, our body moves away from the stress response and towards the ‘rest and digest’ state. This can help slow the heart rate and reduce the activity that contributes to raised blood pressure.

This doesn't mean reflexology should replace medication or medical care, but research suggests it may have a role as a complementary therapy alongside appropriate medical treatment and lifestyle changes.

If you haven't had your blood pressure checked recently, perhaps this week is your reminder to know your numbers!

If you’re looking for reflexology in Maidstone, I’d be happy to support you. Feel free to contact me or book via my website karentaylortherapies.co.uk

Being a member of the Association of Reflexologists is something I’m really proud of.

For me, being part of a professional association means being committed to high standards, continuing to learn and develop, and working within a recognised code of practice.

My clients put their trust in me, and I take that responsibility seriously. My AoR membership is just one part of my commitment to providing a safe and professional reflexology service.

When choosing a reflexologist, it’s always worth taking a look at their training, qualifications and professional memberships. It can help give you peace of mind about the level of training they’ve undertaken and the standards they work to.

Proud to be an AoR member and to provide reflexology in Maidstone 💜

September 1st, a new month and, for many of us, a natural reset.

The summer holidays come to an end, children head back to school, routines return and for many, the morning commute and traffic start to build again.

For mums, there’s the familiar juggle of school runs, packed lunches and getting everyone organised. For teachers, it’s the start of a new school year, with new classes, new routines and plenty to think about.

After the slower pace of summer, it can feel like everything suddenly speeds up again.

But a September reset doesn’t have to mean making big changes or setting lots of new goals. Sometimes it’s simply about checking in with yourself and thinking about how you want to feel as we head into the months ahead.

For those looking for reflexology in Maidstone, my calm home treatment room offers a space to step away from the busyness, slow down and enjoy some time to relax.

If you’re ready for a little reset, get in touch to book your appointment or find out more via my website:

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, mainly because I’ve been so busy with clients, which I’m so grateful for, especially as August is usually a quieter month with holidays and childcare making it harder to find time for a treatment!

Despite that, it’s been so lovely to see people still managing to make time for themselves. Some of my clients are people who would normally put everyone else first, and a few have even mentioned how empowering it feels to finally prioritise their own wellbeing. It feels like something is changing, with people recognising that taking an hour or two for themselves isn’t selfish. It’s important.

I’ve also taken a bit of a step back from social media and the pressure I’d put on myself to keep posting. It’s been really refreshing to take that pressure away.
So, if you don’t see me on here every day, please know I’m still here, working hard behind the scenes and supporting you all.

However, with it being National Wellness Month, it feels like the perfect time to remind you that your wellbeing matters too!

If you’ve been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, not quite yourself, or simply feel like you need an hour or two to pause, reflexology could be a lovely place to start.

Get in touch or take a look at my website to book! www.karentaylortherapies.co.uk

Have a lovely weekend and remember to make a little space for you.

Karen 💜

Welcome, August! … Is it me or is this year flying by?!

I've recently returned from a lovely holiday, with some much needed rest and time to recharge. It gave me the chance to switch off, enjoy quality time with my family, and come back feeling refreshed.

It's easy to keep putting ourselves at the bottom of the list, but taking a step back every now and then can make such a difference. I've come home with a renewed appreciation for making time to rest, recharge and do the things that fill my cup.

This August, I'm choosing to be a little more intentional about protecting that balance, while continuing to do what I love.

I'm looking forward to welcoming you into my treatment room this month and supporting you with some well deserved time to relax, unwind and focus on your wellbeing.

What are you choosing more of this August?

💜Taking my own advice💜

As much as I encourage my clients to make time to rest, recharge and look after themselves, it's important that I do the same.

I'll be taking some time to pause and reset from 24th July, returning on 3rd August. During this time I won't be responding to messages or emails, but you can still book your appointments anytime through my website.

A heartfelt thank you to all of my wonderful clients for your continued support and trust. It truly means so much to me.

If you're heading off somewhere during the school holidays, I hope you have a fantastic time. And whether you're travelling or staying close to home, I hope you can carve out a little time just for you. Rest isn't a luxury. It's an essential part of looking after your wellbeing.

I look forward to seeing you all when I return, feeling refreshed and ready to help you do the same. 🤍

This week in my treatment room I've had the privilege of supporting clients with:

✨ Perimenopause symptoms
✨ Stress
✨ Musculoskeletal issues
✨ Infertility
✨ Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
✨ Anxiety
✨ Fibromyalgia

I've also welcomed clients who simply wanted to invest in their general wellbeing, taking time to rest, recharge and care for themselves.

Every person who walks through my door has their own unique story, and I never take for granted the trust they place in me.

I'm incredibly grateful to each and every client who chooses reflexology as part of their wellbeing journey. Thank you for allowing me to support you, listen to you, and be a small part of your journey towards greater balance and wellbeing.

It's a reminder that reflexology isn't just about relaxation. It's about creating space for the body and mind to rest, rebalance and restore.

Thank you for keeping my treatment room filled with purpose. 🤍
