Reflections from our clinical lead, Dr Triveni Joshi, in response to Channel 4’s recent documentary about ADHD.

One young person’s experience with ADHD medication is just that - one person’s experience. It cannot be treated as a scientific experiment, and it certainly does not tell us whether ADHD exists.

We’ll be exploring more topics from the show in further posts to come.

ADHD is real. 🧠
And people living with ADHD deserve compassionate, thoughtful and evidence-based care. 🩵💛🩷

Following the recent Channel 4 documentary, we wanted to share some of our Clinical Lead, Dr Triveni Joshi’s thoughts on the conversation happening around ADHD. We’ll be expanding on some of Dr Joshi’s key points highlighted here in the post to follow tomorrow night.

From how ADHD is diagnosed and understood, the cost of untreated ADHD, to the role of brain scans, lifestyle changes and lived experience, there is far more nuance than the documentary suggests. One child is not a scientific experiment.

And importantly, if you’re a parent who has been left questioning your child’s experiences or the assessment process, we have one message: don’t panic. We actively encourage you to keep asking those important questions and seeking support from professionals who can look at the whole picture.
