⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿At Motherly Love, we know that football is about much more than just the final score. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️

With England’s World Cup opener kicking off at 9pm, it was a little late for many of our service users to sit up and enjoy the match with us live. A good night’s sleep is often far more important!

That didn’t stop the excitement though. During our visits this morning, we spent time catching up on the highlights, discussing the result, and sharing in the joy of England’s impressive 4-2 win.

For many of the people we support, football brings back memories of watching tournaments with family, gathering around the television, celebrating victories and debating the referee’s decisions. Those conversations are just as valuable as the match itself, helping to promote social interaction, reminiscence and emotional wellbeing.

A lovely talking point during the game was the hydration break, which gave our carers a brilliant opportunity to talk about the importance of keeping hydrated in a different, natural way. Rather than the usual reminders, football helped open up conversations about why fluids matter, especially in warmer weather, and encouraged service users to enjoy drinks while cheering England on. ⚽💧

Moments like these remind us that care isn’t just about practical support; it’s about sharing interests, encouraging conversation and helping people stay connected to the things they enjoy.

We’re proud to be supporting England and our service users to follow England’s World Cup journey and we look forward to many more football chats in the weeks ahead.

Come on England! 🦁🦁🦁

🇬🇧 Trooping the Colour 2026 🇬🇧

Today at Motherly Love Domiciliary Care, we marked Trooping the Colour by taking time to chat with the people we support about their memories of royal celebrations over the years.

The stories shared reminded us just how important reminiscence can be. Many of our service users remember a time when communities came together for national occasions in a way that feels very different today.

🎉 One lady recalled street parties filled with bunting, homemade cakes and neighbours bringing tables out into the street.

📺 Another remembered gathering around a television with family and friends to watch royal events because not every household had a TV of their own.

🎺 We also heard memories of travelling to cities to watch military parades, marching bands and royal celebrations in person, creating memories that have lasted a lifetime.

These conversations are about so much more than history. They help us learn about the lives people have lived, the communities they grew up in and the moments that shaped them. They encourage connection, promote wellbeing and celebrate the experiences of an incredible generation.

Thank you to everyone who shared their memories with us today. 💜🧡

What are your memories of royal celebrations, street parties or national events? We’d love to hear them in the comments. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

💜 Carers Week 2026 | 08–14 June 💜

This year’s Carers Week theme is “Building Carer Friendly Communities” creating places, spaces, services and community groups where unpaid carers are recognised, understood and valued. Communities where support is part of everyday life and carers can access the help, opportunities and understanding they deserve.

At Motherly Love Domiciliary Care, we are proud to play our part in building carer friendly communities across Ryedale and the surrounding areas.

Every day, we work alongside unpaid carers whether that’s a wife, husband, partner, son, daughter, friend, neighbour or family member supporting them and the people they care for to remain safe, comfortable and independent at home.

💜 How we support unpaid carers:

✔️ Everyday care support – personal care, medication support, meal preparation, companionship and domestic tasks.

✔️ Respite care – giving carers valuable time to rest, attend appointments, spend time with family and friends, or simply recharge.

✔️ Sleepover and waking night support – helping unpaid carers get a good night’s sleep knowing their loved one is safe and supported.

✔️ Temporary care packages – covering holidays, short breaks, hospital admissions or periods of illness, ensuring continuity of care when carers need support the most.

✔️ Training and guidance – Danielle is a qualified Train the Trainer instructor and has supported families with practical training in safe moving and handling and safe medication administration, helping carers feel more confident in their role.

✔️ Flexible care visits tailored around the needs of both the individual and their unpaid carer.

We know that carers too often put their own needs last. This Carers Week, we want to say a huge thank you to every unpaid carer. Your dedication, patience and love make an enormous difference every single day.

Together, we can build communities where carers feel recognised, supported and never alone. 💜

🇬🇧🌺 D-Day Remembrance – Voices of a Wartime Generation 🌺🇬🇧

Today, on 6 June, we have been spending time reminiscing with some of our wonderful service users about life during 1944 and the Second World War.

As we mark D-Day and remember the courage, sacrifice and resilience of those who lived through those difficult times, we wanted to share a few personal memories from the people we support. These are not stories from history books they are real experiences from people who remember wartime Britain as children.

🎙️ In this video, three of our service users share snippets of their childhood memories, giving us a glimpse into daily life during the war years.

Added to the list for our Motherly Love Book Club, inspired by today’s conversations:

📚 “A 1940s Childhood” James Marsh

We look forward to reading, discussing and sharing memories together.

Thank you to our service users for allowing us to preserve and celebrate their stories. Their experiences are a precious reminder of the strength, community spirit and resilience of a remarkable generation.

🚶‍♀️💙 WALK 60 MILES IN JUNE 💙🚶‍♀️

Today marks the first day of June, which means our team at Motherly Love is officially starting our Walk 60 Miles in June challenge to help raise awareness for dementia.

Our amazing team is ready for the challenge ahead and proudly wearing the campaign t-shirts as we take those first steps together. Throughout the month, we'll be walking, sharing our progress, and supporting a cause that touches so many families across the UK.

There are currently around one million people in the UK with a diagnosis of dementia – and almost all of us will know someone living with the condition.

Dementia is a syndrome caused by diseases that affect the brain, leading to problems with memory, thinking, communication, and daily activities. For those living with dementia and their loved ones, every day can bring new challenges.

By raising awareness and funds, we can help support vital research into dementia, improve care and support services, and work towards a future where no one has to face dementia alone.

Every mile we walk is for those living with dementia, their families, and the dedicated professionals who care for them.

Thank you to everyone supporting us on this journey. Together, we can make a difference, one step at a time. 💙

If you would like to support our challenge, we would be incredibly grateful for any donation, big or small. To donate please visit the link below, thank you. 👇💜🧡

🌅 💜Sharing special moments at Motherly Love 🌅 🧡

Yesterday treated us to the most breathtaking sunrise and sunset, painting the sky with beautiful shades of gold, orange, pink and purple.

One of our carers managed to capture these beautiful scenes 📷

Today we shared these photos with some of our wonderful service users, and they were truly in awe of nature's beauty. Moments like these remind us how important it is to take time to appreciate the little things that can bring joy, spark conversations, and create a sense of calm and wellbeing ✨️
