Those tiny dark dots after laser? They’re called MENDs: Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris 👀
Following fractional laser treatments such as HALO® and MOXI®, controlled microscopic zones are created within the skin. As your skin begins its natural healing and renewal process, treated tissue and cellular debris move towards the surface, appearing as tiny dark dots and sometimes a bronzed, slightly rough texture.
Those little dots are temporary. What’s happening underneath is the interesting part: renewal, regeneration and fresh skin coming through. ✨
Over the following days, they naturally darken and shed as fresh, renewed skin is revealed beneath. ✨
But what if you don’t get many? Don’t worry.
Not everyone develops the same amount of visible MENDs. It can vary depending on the treatment settings, depth and density used, the area treated and your individual skin response.
More visible MENDs doesn’t mean a better treatment or result. Your skin can still be undergoing the intended renewal process without lots of obvious dots.
If you do get them, don’t pick or scrub — allow them to shed naturally.
Understanding the healing process makes laser recovery a lot less daunting.
