Amazing Elise! You are a warrior ❤️ 🙌🏼

I'm so excited to be taking on the Transplant Games and raising money for NewStart Charity ❤️

This challenge is incredibly close to my heart.

To many people, 2.5k might not seem like a huge distance, but for me, it represents so much more. I spent the last 10 years in a wheelchair, suffered 2 cardiac arrests, spent time in an induced coma, and was kept on full life support while I waited for the gift that would save my life.

By the time of the event, I'll be just 1 year post-heart transplant.

The team was there during the most difficult time of my life, supporting not only me but also my family. Thanks to them, i have a future, so I want to give back.

Every penny raised helps support transplant patients and their families who are facing the same journey I once faced.

This week 15–21 June, we’re marking Men’s Health Week by encouraging all men to put their health first 💙

Looking after your heart and lungs doesn’t always mean making big changes. Small steps can make a real difference:

❤️ Take a short walk each day or find an activity you enjoy.

🥗 Make simple swaps, like choosing healthier meals or cutting back on processed foods.

🩺 Don’t ignore symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain, persistent coughing, or unusual fatigue.

📅 Book that health check-up you’ve been putting off and know your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers.

🚭 If you smoke, seek support to quit.

💬 Talk openly with friends, family, or healthcare professionals about your physical and mental wellbeing.

For those staying on the Jim Quick Ward this week, Amanda, our wonderful activity coordinator, has something lovely planned… helping keep you entertained and bring a few extra moments of enjoyment during your stay.

For people living with life-limiting heart and lung conditions, transplantation can offer a second chance at life. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we continue to fund vital work at our heart and lung transplant centre, helping patients and families when they need it most.

This week, let’s break the stigma around men’s health and remind every man that seeking help is a sign of strength 💪🏻
