❤️ International Mechanical Circulatory Support Day ❤️

On 7th July, we invite you our wonderful LVAD community to join us as we come together - patients, carers, families and some of the incredible team at Wythenshawe hospital.

We’ll be part of the global community recognising the incredible impact of Mechanical Circulatory Support devices and the lives they help save.

We celebrate the patients who continue to thrive with the support of LVADs and other life-sustaining technologies, embracing opportunities, overcoming challenges, and inspiring those around them with their strength and determination.

We honour the families, carers, clinicians and researchers whose unwavering support makes these journeys possible, and we recognise the innovation and advances in technology that continue to transform lives every day.

It is also moment to remember and honour those who are no longer with us. Their stories, courage and legacies remain an important part of our transplant and heart failure community, and they continue to inspire our work.

By sharing stories of resilience, raising awareness of severe heart failure, and celebrating the power of innovation and hope, we stand together in support of every patient and family affected by advanced heart disease.

📣 Volunteers’ Week 2026 📣

This week from Monday 1st June to Sunday 7th June, we are celebrating Volunteers’ Week and taking the opportunity to thank the incredible people who volunteer their time to support New Start.

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated Chair Steve and the whole team of trustees, whose commitment, expertise and guidance help steer the charity and ensure we can continue supporting transplant patients and families. As volunteers, they generously give their time alongside their own personal and professional commitments, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support.

We would also like to recognise Lynda, our wonderful Transplant Games Ambassador. Since retiring, Lynda has continued to give her time and energy to New Start, championing the charity and supporting the transplant community with her enthusiasm, dedication and passion.

To our Trustees and Lynda, thank you for everything you do.

🚴 ELECTRIC CRANKS: CYCLING ACROSS SCOTLAND
A truly inspiring team of LVAD and heart transplant patients taking on a 3-day cycling challenge to raise awareness of severe heart failure, organ donation and the life-saving work of transplantation. 💫

These events are about more than fundraising. I had a phone call yesterday with one of the The Electric Cranks Cycling Club and it was clear that the rides are about resilience, second chances, community and hope.

This weekend, we are incredibly proud to support one of our amazing patients as she takes on the Manchester 10K ❤️

After undergoing a heart transplant and a double leg amputation, her determination, strength and positive attitude continue to inspire everyone around her ✨

Not only is she taking part in this incredible challenge, but she has also raised an amazing nearly £7,000 for charity - a truly outstanding achievement.

While we weren’t able to secure her a New Start charity place for this year’s event, we are so excited about the fantastic fundraising plans Jodie has for the future, and we can’t wait to support her journey ahead.
