Summer is nearly here, and your feet deserve to be ready for it 👣

This time of year, I see a lot of patients who've been quietly putting things off. A ni**le here, a bit of discomfort there. Nothing dramatic, but enough to get in the way of doing the things they love.

I had two patients in recently who were ready for just that.

One wanted to get back to running, and within 30 minutes of their appointment, they were back on their feet and ready to go.

The other just wanted to walk to Waitrose without it being an ordeal. They did exactly that, the same day.

Two very different goals, and two very straightforward appointments 💙

Foot care doesn't always need to be complicated. Sometimes the right treatment at the right time makes an almost immediate difference.

I recently visited the Enhanced Practitioner Conference at The University of Salford, and it was a really interesting day 👣

I spent time catching up with peers and getting a closer look at how the NHS operates, an impressive organisation.

Meeting suppliers and having meaningful and relevant conversations was a highlight.

Bailey Instruments and Canonbury Healthcare donated substantial supplies for my work with Barnabus.

The sun comes out, and the shoes change overnight, but are you wearing the right ones? 👣

Sandals, pumps, flip flops. After months of boots and thick socks, it feels liberating. But this time of year, I start seeing a familiar pattern in the clinic.

Lighter shoes often mean less support, less structure, and a lot more opportunity for things to start rubbing or causing discomfort.

So before you reach for the summer footwear, here are a few things worth thinking about:

➡️ Your shoes should fit the shape of your foot, not the other way around
➡️ Leave enough room for your toes to move freely
➡️ The back of the shoe should feel firm and support your heel
➡️ Soft materials with no rough seams will always be kinder to your skin.

It sounds simple, but the right fit makes a real difference to how your feet feel over the warmer months. 💙

On the 19th May, I visited Barnabus once again to support their attendees with vital foot care.

Barnabus does incredible work supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Getting to be even a small part of that, doing what I do, feels like a real privilege.

👣 Feet tell a story, and for people living without a stable shelter, that story is written in ways most of us never have to think about. Wet socks, wet shoes, day after day. The conditions that are created are painful and often go untreated for a long time.

Being able to help, even in a small way, is exactly why I got into this work.

I left feeling humbled, purposeful, and grateful for this wonderful community and the people in it 💙

Giving back will always be a part of what Footrespect stands for. 🙂

Moisturising your feet? Good. Keep doing it 💙

Any moisturiser is better than none. If you're already doing it, you're already ahead of many people.

But here's something I learned more about recently at a brilliant skincare presentation.

Not all moisturisers are created equal. The ingredients in your formula make a real difference, especially when it comes to specific skin conditions like eczema, very dry skin, or cracked heels.

What works beautifully for one person's feet might not be the right fit for another's.

❔ So whilst I'll always encourage you to moisturise, it's also worth asking the question, is what you're using right for your skin?

It's something I'm happy to chat through at your next appointment. Sometimes a small tweak to your routine can make a surprisingly big difference 🙂

Some of you have been coming to see me for years. Others just the once. I'm grateful for every patient 💙

Thank you for booking, for coming back, for the kind reviews and lovely comments. For being great company in the clinic and for trusting me with your feet.

👣 If you visit once a year or every six weeks, I don't take any of it for granted.

Most of you have become more than patients, and that's something I never expected when I started this, but something I'm so grateful for.

As the summer arrives, I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones before the holidays. Let's get your feet looking and feeling great 🙂

This review made me smile for the rest of the day. 💙

Sarah and her daughter came to see me after years of trying to get rid of verrucae. She'd tried everything, including shop-bought treatments and trying to have them frozen at the GP, but nothing worked.

After just one visit to my clinic, they were gone within 3 months.

I always say there's usually something we haven't tried yet. Sometimes it just takes the right plan and a bit of patience.

I'm so glad they found me when they did. Here's what Sarah had to say about her experience:
