🚑 We are part-way through a full design-and-build turnkey project for a private hospital in the north-east of England, encompassing the complete refit of two existing ultraclean theatres, along with upgrade works to a third theatre.

🧑‍⚕️ Theatre 1 is now complete, with the MAT installations team successfully undertaking electrical infrastructure upgrades as well as overcoming access challenges due to the building layout, all while working within a live hospital environment under tight time constraints. Work on Theatre 2 starts this week, followed by Theatre 3.

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our friend from Walter Lilly Phil Groves and the team who, together with the other riders, raised an incredible £650K in the weekend's Duchenne Dash 👏 in aid of Duchenne UK.

Great to see they were still standing - and smiling 😀 - after the 300km, 24-hour event!

What a marvellous fundraising effort - well done to everyone involved.

🚴‍♂️ Good luck to our friend at Walter Lilly, Phil Groves, who is taking part in tomorrow's London to Paris 'Duchenne Dash' charity cycle ride. 150 cyclists will be leaving London in just a few hours as they start the gruelling 24-hour, 300km event. His team of construction colleagues - team name Chasing Connor's Cure - is raising funds for the lovely Connor and awareness of this devastating condition for Duchenne UK.

We were very happy to be able to support Phil and the team by sponsoring the shoulder logos on their cycle shirts.

🙄 Look up 🏗️ No clouds to be seen in this blue sky, but there's plenty of other stuff going on!

🚧 We have begun theatre fit-out at the new Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC) at Nottingham City Hospital. The picture shows the air handling units being delivered and positioned in the plantroom prior to works commencing.

🏥 MAT is installing three theatres in total, two of which are ultraclean. We're doing the full fit-out of all three theatres plus full M&E services in this major project for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

☀️ Under blue skies, work began this week on the Theatre 12 fit-out at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. External scaffold access to the new theatre and plantroom area ensures the existing theatre in the block can remain fully operational throughout.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Dragons everywhere, it's time to tremble, as we celebrate St George's Day! 🐉

St George's slaying of the scaly-skinned, fire-breathing dragon meant that in the Middle Ages his assistance was often sought against diseases with dermatological manifestation or that were believed to be spread by 'miasmas' (bad air). At MAT, we're all about GOOD air, so if you're got some metaphorical dragons that need slaying your operating theatre, containment laboratory, aseptic suite or cleanroom, please get in touch and brave Sir Adrian and Sir Will will be with you quicker than you can say "a knight's quest".

👷 Our installation team is currently part-way through delivery of new CL3 containment laboratories at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s Keppel Street site. Keppel Street has been the institutional home since of LSHTM since 1929 and remains the heart of the School's teaching and research activity.

🔬Working with main contractor Walter Lilly, we have undertaken specialist fit-out of the new CL3 containment laboratories that will support LSHTM’s research into infectious diseases. The photos below show finished rooms prior to second fix and final finishings. The project is due for completion this autumn.

🤔 Interesting fact: The Grade II-listed Keppel Street building is one of the earliest examples of steel frame construction, featuring concrete floor slabs and a classical stone façade that has remained unchanged since 1929.
