💚 WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN — AND NOW I’M ASKING OUR COMMUNITY TO HELP 💚

I wasn't planning on writing this post today.

This morning we had our usual Friday Pilates class at The Glow Up Hub. Afterwards, a few of the ladies stayed behind, had a coffee and started chatting.

And I found myself just standing there listening.

Women talking openly about cancer. Treatment. Recovery. What happens afterwards. The things you deal with physically and emotionally that other people don't always see.

But more than that, I was listening to women supporting women.

Listening to each other. Sharing experiences. Offering reassurance. Laughing together. Understanding each other.

And I genuinely felt quite emotional.

We have some incredibly strong, resilient women who walk through the doors of this Hub. Women who have been through things that many of us couldn't imagine — yet they still turn up wanting to move their bodies, feel stronger, have a coffee, have a chat and get on with living their lives.

And the other women around them simply… listen. ❤️

Then one of our members said:

“Why don't we do a Macmillan Coffee Morning?”

And I thought — YES.

So I've officially signed The Glow Up Hub up. 💚☕

📅 FRIDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER
We'll be holding our Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Hub.

And because our FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY is the very next day — Saturday 26th September — I want to do something BIG.

🎁 I WANT TO BUILD A HUGE CHARITY RAFFLE.

And I need your help.

From TODAY, I'm asking local businesses, makers, therapists, hairdressers, beauticians, restaurants, cafés, shops, PTs, instructors — absolutely ANYONE who can — to donate a prize.

It doesn't have to be enormous.

A 2025 study 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘪𝘬𝘪 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘺 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘓𝘦𝘶𝘬𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘢 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 5-7 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦: 𝘈 𝘙𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 by Demir et al. examined the effect of Reiki performed on 66 children with leukemia between the ages of 5–7 years on pain, vital signs, oxygen saturation, and quality of life. The research was a double-blind, pre-test-post-test randomized controlled experimental study. The data were collected using Information Form, Wong-Baker FACES Pain Scale (W-BPS), Vital Signs Follow-up Form, and The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) 3.0 Cancer Module.

Reiki was performed to the Reiki group for 20–30 minutes once per day, for 3 consecutive days and pseudo-Reiki was applied to the pseudo-Reiki group by an independent nurse during the same period. Reiki did not affect the vital signs of the children but was effective in reducing pain and increasing the quality of life compared with the pseudo-Reiki and control groups.

Noting the study's rigorous design and its evidence-based rationale for incorporating Reiki treatments more broadly into cancer care practices, CRR reviewers scored this paper, published in the 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨, highly (Very Good/Excellent) using the CRR Touchstone evaluation process.
