I love this new wave of parenting that I like to think of as “Humanistic Parenting” where parents are not more obsessed with the self-centeredness of how convenient they want parenting to be for them, than they are about getting to know their child and nurturing a little multidimensional human into a happy healthy adult.
I’m seeing a new wave, that is beyond “gentle” parenting (in my opinion) because they aren’t always gentle and overly passive, rather they are conscious of how they show up in their kids lives, emotions, minds and more, they are conscious of the fact that parenting isn’t just about top down rules, decrees, academic degrees and punishments with no space for ease and safety, it isn’t about running a home where you don’t take the time to know and understand a child and his or her personality, create a space for emotional safety, balancing confidence with vulnerability, or letting them feel seen and understood.
It’s not just about not yelling or disciplining a child, it’s more about humanely letting them express, but even better, disciplining them, correcting them, and more, without breaking them, damaging their sense of self, and even helping them to learn, find, mold, formulate their identity with confidence and joy, EVEN THROUGH THE DISCIPLINE.
I believe we will all heal from our parents one way or the other, what matters more is the how deep the hurt goes and the magnitude to which this healing is required.
Looks like we, in our little corners of the world, are working hard to parent without losing our sanity, while simultaneously not becoming the reason your adult child will have to grapple heavily with healing.
I think that takes strength. It requires heavy surgery done on yourself, deep strength and work done. That is a commendable feat. Shoutout to Parenting||family||lifestyle and the many others doing the same! God bless you
I don’t have anything life changing to point out, and I don’t like long captions.
I just wanted to say that It’s refreshing to see and I love it.
