Six years ago today, my life changed forever. What started as a simple walk to the shop ended in a devastating accident when I was hit by a speeding driver.
The journey since then has been one of the hardest challenges of my life — physically, mentally and emotionally. Recovery hasn’t been quick or easy, but looking back today, I’m incredibly grateful for the people who stood beside me every step of the way.
I want to say a huge thank you to the NHS for literally putting my back together and giving me the chance to rebuild my life. To my incredible legal team at Stewarts, thank you for everything you did.
To my case manager, Linda Jooste, and my neuropsychologist, Gavin Newby, thank you for everything you’ve done over the years. And to all of my rehab team — there are far too many people to mention individually, but every bit of support, care and encouragement has meant more than words can say.
Most of all, thank you to my amazing wife and family. Without your love, patience and unwavering support, I honestly wouldn’t be here today. You carried me through the darkest moments and celebrated every small victory along the way.
Six years on, I still carry the effects of that day, but I also carry a huge amount of gratitude for everyone who helped me keep moving forward.
