She wasn’t being difficult. She genuinely wanted to get better. But the exercises had never really progressed or challenged her - and so, understandably, she felt like she wasn’t getting anywhere.

This patient is active, strong, loves a variety of exercise & sports but here’s the thing. The body adapts to what you ask of it. Give it too little and it has no real reason to change. You can do a few gentle exercises every day for months and stay roughly where you started.

Good rehab has to challenge you. Not recklessly - but enough to give the body a reason to get stronger. And it has to keep moving with you, because what felt hard in week one shouldn’t feel the same by week six.

If your exercises feel too easy or a bit pointless, it doesn’t mean rehab won’t work for you. Sometimes the plan just needs to be progressed properly.

Alpine Blue Physiotherapy is becoming Apex Physiotherapy Mansfield.

When I started this page, I wanted a name that reflected where I came from - years in the mountains of New Zealand and Canada before retraining as a Physiotherapist. That hasn’t changed.

But things have grown, and it was time for a name that points somewhere too. Apex - the summit. The thing you’re climbing towards. Whether that’s running pain-free, getting back on the pitch, or just picking up your kids without thinking twice.

So here’s what’s changing, and what isn’t:
