⛔️ 👑 THE SPIRIT OF PRIDE: A WARNING FROM THE LIFE OF ATHALIAH 👑
Athaliah’s story is one of the clearest biblical examples of what can happen when pride, fear, and the desire for control take over a person’s heart.
When her son died, Athaliah seized the throne and ordered the destruction of the royal heirs to protect her position (2 Kings 11) Her Grandsons were killed !!!!! Instead of trusting God, she chose power. Instead of humility, she chose control. Instead of surrender, she chose self-preservation.
⚠️ The spirit of pride is dangerous because it can cause us to:
• Put our will above God’s will
• Crave control over people and situations
• Become threatened by those God is raising up
• Protect our position at any cost
• Justify sinful actions to achieve our goals
• Refuse correction or accountability
• Build our own kingdom instead of God’s
Pride whispers:
❌ “I know better than God.”
❌ “I deserve this.”
❌ “I must stay in control.”
❌ “My position is more important than obedience.”
But God’s Word teaches the opposite:
✨ Humility invites God’s grace.
✨ Surrender brings peace.
✨ Trust in God is greater than control.
Athaliah spent years fighting to hold onto a throne that was never hers to keep. Yet while she was striving to preserve her own power, God was quietly preserving His promise through young Joash.
What God ordains, no amount of human control can stop.
❤️ This isn’t just a story about an ancient queen. It’s a reminder for all of us to examine our hearts.
Ask yourself:
🔍 Am I trying to control what God has asked me to trust Him with?
🔍 Do I struggle when others are blessed, promoted, or called by God?
🔍 Am I seeking God’s glory—or my own?
📖 “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18
May we choose humility over pride,
Trust over control,
And obedience over self-promotion.
Because God’s grace flows most freely to the humble heart. 🙏
🔥 THE ENEMY CHANGES THE NAME, BUT THE STRATEGY REMAINS THE SAME
In Elijah’s day, it was Baal.
In Athaliah’s day, it was Baal.
Today, the names may be different, but the question remains the same:
Who are we looking to for power, guidance, healing, truth, protection, identity, and purpose?
The enemy rarely presents deception in a form that appears evil.
It often appears peaceful.
Empowering.
Enlightened.
Healing.
Beautiful.
Spiritual.
Many modern spiritual movements encourage people to seek spiritual power, revelation, healing, enlightenment, or supernatural experiences apart from Jesus Christ.
Examples often discussed by Christians include:
• Manifesting and “The Secret”
• Reiki and energy healing
• Spirit guides and channeling
• Crystal spirituality
• Shamanic practices
• Divination and occult practices
• Ancestor communication
• Worship of other deities
• Any spiritual path that rejects Christ as Lord
The biblical concern is not merely the method.
The concern is the source.
📖 “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3)
Baal promised prosperity.
Modern spirituality often promises abundance.
Baal promised power.
Modern spirituality often promises empowerment.
Baal promised guidance.
Modern spirituality often promises hidden wisdom.
The packaging changes.
The temptation remains the same:
To receive spiritually from another source instead of God.
⸻
⚠️ THE SPIRIT OF PRIDE
The spirit behind much deception is often pride.
Pride says:
❌ “I can create my own reality.”
❌ “I don’t need God.”
❌ “I can become my own source.”
❌ “I know better than God.”
❌ “I will determine my own truth.”
But God’s Word teaches the opposite.
✨ Humility invites grace.
✨ Surrender brings peace.
✨ Trust in God produces freedom.
Athaliah spent years fighting to hold onto a throne that was never hers to keep.
Yet while she was striving to preserve her own power, God was quietly preserving His promise through Joash.
What God ordains, no amount of human control can stop.

📖 A WARNING FOR OUR GENERATION
The greatest deception is not always open rebellion against God.
Sometimes it is a substitute for God that appears harmless, beneficial, sophisticated, enlightened, or spiritual.
The enemy rarely asks people to reject God outright.
More often, he offers a replacement.
A substitute.
A counterfeit.
A different source.
📖 “For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14)
Not everything spiritual is from God.
Not everything supernatural is from God.
Not everything peaceful is from God.
Not everything that shines carries His light.
📖 “Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)

❤️ THE ANSWER IS NOT FEAR — THE ANSWER IS JESUS
This is not a call to fear people.
It is a call to discernment.
The answer is not hidden knowledge.
The answer is God’s Word.
The answer is not self-empowerment.
The answer is surrender to the Holy Spirit.
The answer is not spiritual techniques.
The answer is Jesus Christ.
✨ We do not need another source.
✨ We do not need secret knowledge.
✨ We do not need spiritual shortcuts.
✨ We need Christ.
📖 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” — Jesus

🙏 A HEART CHECK
Ask yourself:
🔍 Am I seeking something from another source that I should be seeking from God?
🔍 Am I trusting God’s Word, or am I looking for alternative spiritual answers?
🔍 Am I building God’s Kingdom—or my own?
Because the lesson of Athaliah still speaks today:
The enemy changes the wrapping, but the gospel never changes.
Choose Christ over counterfeits.
Choose truth over deception.
Choose humility over pride.
Choose surrender over control.
And remember:
Idolatry is anything we look to for what only God can provide.
🙏 Jesus Christ is still Lord.
