It seems like such a long time since the plant medicine circle in August, so much has happened including the Elder workshop.

I’m so happy to feel the Autumnal freshness and I’m so grateful for the rain. The garden is so happy to receive it too.

The plants have been whispering and keeping me out of the conversation until last night. I wondered if the next plant that we will be working with would be dropping in right at the last moment but thank goodness the plant spirits have made the bread crumb trail clear. Yesterday many beautiful synchronicities have led to this plant and last night I had many lucid dreams with her talking to me.

It’s a plant I grow in the garden but have always been told isn’t a good one for me so the next week of journeying, tasting and exploring is going to be interesting.

I get so excited to get to know the plants in this way, it takes me back to childhood wonder and magic.

🌿 Juniper, the Eclipse & the Liminal Space 🌑

Last night’s plant circle was certainly unusual!

Somehow, the universe had hidden the fact that we had an eclipse happening. The last eclipse like this was in 1999, when I was on Bradgate Park. And somehow, with our plant of the evening being juniper — a sun herb — the timing felt incredibly aligned.

We began by grounding and connecting, then ventured outside to see what we could without looking directly at the sun. Reflections in shop windows created beautiful halos of rainbow-shaped light, and some lovely teenagers even lent us their eclipse glasses. ✨

Then we settled into the energy of juniper.

She is such a mysterious and revered plant — protective, cleansing and purifying, and traditionally believed to carry our prayers to heaven.

Whenever I connect with juniper, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace, love and stillness. I often see a beautiful lilac blanket settling over me, and last night was no different. It was deeply healing.

The eclipse felt like a powerful liminal space — a pause between what has been and what is becoming.

For me, it was a time to look at what I wanted to release and who I want to become. I recognised the doubts I still carry — doubts about myself and my healing journey — and chose to let them go.

To step into trust.

And to dare to share a little more of my weird self with the world. 💜

The briar patch 🫐🐝🌱🌳

Why isn’t there a blackberry emoji? Surely that’s a must.

I love the wildness of my little little blackberry briar and how all of the herbs, plants and trees just work together to make this nature haven.

We want to remove the garage so that I can have a workspace in the garden. This is really exciting but I don’t like to upset nature so I find making changes like this quite difficult.

I’m sharing this to show you how it is now and hopefully to see how nature thrives even more once we have made changes and added even more plants for nature. We can’t do that until we take down the garage.

Maybe I will do a post and show you the whole thing. I get quite anxious about nature being cut back and my Elder is close and she won’t like any workmen touching her without respect.

I guess I will have to oversee the project. I’m sure the workmen won’t mind! my old kitty Ku used to do this whenever we had any work done 🐈 he would go out and walk around them and cast his judging eyes over their work.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else struggle with this?

Last month, I spent time sitting with meadowsweet in my plant medicine circle. Although it’s a herb I’ve known for years, working with a plant one-to-one always reveals something new.

I’ve long loved meadowsweet as a digestive herb, especially for acid reflux. A friend once called it “a hug in a mug,” and that has always felt exactly right.

I took my tea ceremony to the headland at Porth in Cornwall. Surrounded by sea and sky, I felt an immediate sense of peace. Then my attention was drawn to ivy climbing a wall. The ivy was strong, but it was the wall that gave it the support to flourish.

That felt like meadowsweet’s message.

Strength doesn’t always come from enduring alone. Sometimes it comes from allowing ourselves to be supported.

Later, the plant gently nudged me to go inside before the rain came. I listened. Moments later the heavens opened, and as I rested, I experienced a profound sense of healing, peace and trust.

Meadowsweet is renowned for soothing the digestive tract, calming excess acidity and supporting gut healing. As someone living with rheumatoid arthritis, I’ve become increasingly interested in the connection between gut health and autoimmune conditions, and this beautiful plant has become part of my own daily ritual of care.

It’s like watching a whole other magical world. I find watching the butterflies dance medicine for my soul. I like to get right down on the grass with them so they get used to me and continue in their joy. I’m getting in nature whenever I can, even if just for a minute. I can feel my nervous system calming down and my joy and love radiating 🥰

Solstice Blessings to you all ☀️ I hope these light codes fill your hearts with peace and joy.

The St John’s Wort has exploded overnight and is coming into full force. I’ve had a lovely morning communing with nature and finally I have had the chance to harvest the Lemonbalm. Lemonbalm is really lovely to tincture from the fresh herb just before she pops into flower. That’s when her volatile oils are at their peak. It’s taken me a while to make my own Lemonbalm tincture as I didn’t want to take away the flowers from the bees but I finally have enough plants to justify it to myself 😊 it made such a lovely tincture last year I found it hard to use it too 🤣 the plants have been reassuring me that there is enough for all 🥰🙏🌱
