Personally, I’d rather focus on treatments that actually show evidence and results that are visible even after 1 session.

I’m seeing more and more patients whose lips look puffy, swollen and completely lacking in definition but they don’t consider themselves “overfilled” because their lips aren’t huge.

Overfilling is much more subtle a lot of the time. It’s:

• A fuzzy/blurred lip border instead of a crisp one
• Fullness above the natural lip line
• A Cupid’s bow that’s slowly disappeared
• A heavy or shelf-like top lip from the side

The filler used, where it’s placed, how much is used and whether your practitioner is willing to say “you actually don’t need any more” all matter!

Genetics, repeated lip movements, sun exposure and the natural loss of collagen as we age can all cause those little vertical lines to appear.

I use lip filler in and around the lips with my patients to treat this. Microneedling is also amazing for this if you’re looking for non-injectable solutions.
