Just over a month ago I had my first client booking at Magnolia Therapy Centre .

If you prefer to have your treatment away from home instead of my mobile service, ask to have it there when you book with me. It's even open into the early evening during the week, so you can go there straight after a stressful day at work!

Most people have heard of hot stones massage, it's another one of those quite popular therapies.

Yes, the black, often shiny ones.

So what are these? I like to train in the less well known modalities, to offer clients something a bit different and harder to find.

You are looking at Himalayan salt stones.
Reputedly helpful for fibromyalgia sufferers, imparting scores of minerals and removing negative ions.

Like the black basalt ones, they are also warmed up for application. 🔥

And the massage is very gentle, involving a mix of effleurage and resting stones.

And is carried out using powder on the body instead of oil.

If you like massage, there are plenty of styles out there, from Swedish body to Thai foot, Indian head to Deep tissue, hot stones to warm bamboo, to name a few of the most well known and easy to find.

You all know I do full body hot stones massage, and that I introduce a selected number of them during my signature back massage too, so with the chillier season on the way, I will now feature the cosy toes stones in my Thai foot massage. As I work on one foot at a time, the resting foot is always wrapped in a towel for warmth, but imagine being wrapped up with these heated up little beauties in place!

An important question for all my female friends please!

Male therapists can find it harder in this business, and I previously asked for feedback about approachability and trustworthiness, to which I received some very encouraging comments.

So, as I'm continuously developing and looking into new courses, this question is directed to any MOTHERS or potential mothers.

I now have the opportunity to train in Pregnancy Massage. A big market but more specialist as it's important to know about the increased risk factors.

How many of you feel that you would get/would have got/did get, some benefit from having one, and how many would be/would have been happy if I were the therapist?

NOTHING TO FEAR

I've just filled out a survey on a therapist forum asking if anyone has a niche group they like to work with.

Of course, I will work with mostly anyone if they don't have a contraindicated condition, and I particularly like to work with those who are just really tense and need to relax, and people who are nervous about massage, or self conscious for some reason.

Top of that list is anyone with psoriasis.

I have read some dreadful stories about rude and/or ignorant therapists who don't recognise it, assume it's contagious, and embarrass people who have already struggled to pluck up courage to try booking.

Well here's a message that works both ways

NOTHING TO FEAR

A good therapist knows they have nothing to fear in performing a massage. And the client has nothing to fear about receiving one. Or uncovering.

Certainly not with me. I've been afflicted in the past, and always could be again. I understand the condition. And since becoming a therapist, I have massaged several clients with psoriasis, some of them coming back to me repeatedly.

So remember, there is NOTHING TO FEAR.

A fabulous evening earlier this week with four of my regular female clients. All from the same family, they meet up for a pamper evening every month, looking forward to de-stressing from their busy lives. All of them wanting to stay put afterwards and just sleep!

But despite this accolade, followers on Facebook are slowly disappearing .
No new clients since January. Previous regular clients not returning.
All this despite heightened advertising on the car.
Signing up to hire lovely rooms in a therapy centre, which I have never yet had a booking for.

People often tell me it's the cost of living crisis in this country which might be holding people back.
