Have you ever wanted to balance upside down but never feel you have the time to practice it in a regular flow class? Or do you just feel you’re not sure what you even need to be doing in order to balance?! 🤔 This day will be to help with this!🤸

Set in the beautiful Chilterns countryside, in a quiet, stress free location we’ll work on the foundations of handstand, forearm stand, headstand. The day will not be uber serious but there will of course be work involved to condition the muscles needed in order to balance. 🤸

Yoga based flow and floor based drills to build strength and flexibility

Drills at the wall to build upper body strength and balance awareness

Arm balance play with personalised cues to enhance your learning

Optional country walk with views overlooking the chilterns countryside

Mid afternoon stretch with relaxing long yoga holds

This retreat is designed to be deeply relaxing — more of a chance to simply be rather than attempt any crazy yoga moves (as much as I love a crazy yoga move… we’ll save that for another time!).

Some of the most valuable aspects of yoga are found in its simplicity. This day isn’t about performing or achieving anything. Instead, we’ll use the breath, gentle movement, sensory awareness and meditation as tools to help anchor ourselves in the present moment. From that place, we can help gain greater clarity in our thoughts and a more honest connection to how we feel — perhaps even discovering a wider, steadier perspective from which to move forward.

That said, I don’t want the day to feel too earnest. There will be plenty of space to enjoy yourself. You’ll have the option of a country walk for fresh air  (completely voluntary — you’re equally welcome to stay back, drink  tea, read, or chat). A delicious chef-prepared buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Yoga-wise, there will be two extended, unhurried sessions with ample time in savasana (final relaxation), along with optional hands-on assists. My aim is for you to leave feeling relaxed and  refreshed — perhaps with a few extra practice ideas you can use at home or in the office lunch break to help in everyday life beyond the yoga room.

Join me for a winter’s day of creativity, gentle movement, deep relaxation, and delicious plant-based food (As a meat eater this is not something i say lightly, but in this case it really is true) 

This isn’t a “new year, new you” kind of event. It’s simply a chance to slow down, try something  a little different, in a friendly, relaxed environment.

We’ll begin with a gentle, all-levels yoga flow, followed by a small-group pottery session under the expert guidance of ceramicist Lucinda Etchell where you’ll learn the basics and have a go on the wheel (no experience needed!). You’ll finish the day with a long stretch and guided relaxation to leave you feeling grounded, calm and hopefully inspired by spending he day doing something creative..

There’ll be  snacks, refreshments and a chef prepared vegan lunch. If time allows, we’ll also take a gentle walk in the nearby woods.

📍 Beaconsfield (private residence, free on-road parking)

It’s often the simplest of practices that can help bring us closer to finding a deeper peace and connectedness within ourselves. Two invaluable resources are of course breath and movement. Sometimes it’s just a case of making the time to do the thing that actually helps!

Join me on Friday evening, 21st November for:

Gentle breathwork
To relax, but to also find a deeper, physical and mental connection in the mind/body

Mobility and breath:
To encourage more physical freedom though the body to help release tension

Stretch:

 I’ll avoid the usual cliches regarding autumn and advertising a yoga retreat only to say that I am looking forward to  teaching  this event that has over the years given me both flexibility, strength, calm  and grounding - whatever the season.

As with all half and full day retreats, it's a pleasure for me to be able to teach people for a longer length of time and help them with their practices in a way that a 60 min class just does not allow for. They’ll also be time over brunch and a break to chat about things  yoga and non yoga drink my favourite Irish  tea! [email protected]

Class description below:

Yin: Upper back, shoulders & neck  
Part of the class will involve gentle wake up stretching in the morning and  will largely  focus on the upper back, shoulders and neck. Expect gentle mobilisation work and some longer holds to allow the body to relax and stretch a little bit deeper. 

Yang: Abs, twists and hip opening postures
Expect a strong steady practice challenge, zesty poses (a teacher’s word for a little bit tough) that miraculously STILL leaves you feeling calm after having practiced. They’ll be abdominals (courtesy of Ana Forrest) with a focus on twists and hip opening postures.  The steady nature of the class with slightly longer holds than a regular flow class means you’ve got time to breathe, feel the poses in your own body more and in my personal experience, feel more grounded in mind and body afterwards. 

½ day retreat is suitable for everyone from the athletic beginner and upwards
