My Message techniques changed a few years ago although i believe and my clients would also agree i have always had the ability to work intuitively ,changing my techniques to meet my clients on the day as No two massages should ever be the same even with the same practitioner.
I was training to become a trauma discharge continue for a couple of years before Covid hit .As for most of us life changed and it came to a holt .
Then my own life took on its own challenges and again that got in the way to continue….
But along the way i found Embodied therapy and have just completed the bit of the jigsaw that was missing 🥰
Thank you Jan….Ive just completed the Sama Massage Method.
Please read below
Soma massage is a body-centered therapy that focuses on the connection between your mind and body, not just easing muscle tension. The name comes from the Greek soma, meaning “body” — but in this context it refers to the body as you experience it from within, including emotions and stored stress.
How it’s different from regular massage
Traditional massage usually targets sore muscles and physical tension.
Somatic massage looks at how stress, emotions, trauma, or past experiences might be “held” in the body and uses touch to help release those patterns.
The goal isn’t just relaxation — it’s deeper awareness and healing of the mind-body connection.
What happens in a session
Practitioners use gentle, mindful touch, slow strokes, breathwork, and body awareness exercises. You’re encouraged to notice physical sensations, breathing, and emotions as they come up, rather than just lying there passively. It’s often slower and more conversational than a standard massage.
What it’s used for
People often seek it for:
Chronic stress, anxiety, or overwhelm
Tension in the neck, shoulders, or back that doesn’t go away with regular massage
Trauma or emotional distress stored in the body
Improving posture, sleep, and overall sense of being grounded
The background
It’s rooted in somatics — a field coined by Thomas Hanna in the 1970s that sees the body and mind as one system. The Soma Method specifically was developed by Dr. Bill Williams, building on Ida Rolf’s Structural Integration/Rolfing work, and views humans as a unit of body, mind, and soul.
