Preparing for our final weekend together on Evolve Your Practice, Evolve Your Teaching ✨

Over the last three months we’ve explored so much more than teaching techniques.

Together we’ve returned to the importance of personal practice, the act of listening, sequencing and planning, autonomy, marketing and now - the subtle body. 💫

Our final day will be an opportunity to begin bringing all of these pieces together.

Through practice, discussion and teaching, students will continue building confidence in their own voice and approach.

Largely experiential, we’ll spend time exploring the subtler aspects of yoga and students will have the chance to teach one another, support one another and identify their next steps as practitioners and teachers.

This course has become a real celebration of people returning - returning to practice, returning to teaching, returning to themselves - and such a lovely community has formed as a result. 💓

I truly believe the only way we develop as teachers is to practice. To know and feel yoga through experience before we can meaningfully share it with others.

🌟 self-practice is the key🌟

Thank you to everyone who has joined me for this first outing of the course - it’s been such a rich and rewarding experience for me too.

And thank you to Yoga Campus Yogacampus for hosting and supporting ongoing study and practice for yoga teachers around the world. 🌍

Also… being a little quieter on socials whilst focusing on the course has felt like an unexpected gift. 🎁

Looking forward to one final day together ☀️

For anyone struggling with the heat… a practice I recorded a few years ago that seems to come back around each Summer as we find ourselves in the middle of a heat wave once again.

The intention of this practice is to offer you a cooling pause away from the intensity and heat of the Sun. ☀️

I invite you to join me for a series of gentle postures, visualisation, breathwork, calming sound and stillness — exploring ways to help cool and calm the system.

Taking inspiration from the balancing qualities of the moon, 🌙 we can imagine ourselves resting in moonlight, inviting calm as we stretch out on the ground. 🌍

Finding comfort in stillness and, like the moon reflecting light into darkness, beginning to let go of built-up heat, tension and worry.

You might choose to take this practice at the end of the day as a way to restore energy and cool the system before bed. Or perhaps begin the day here, noticing your starting point and carrying some of the practices with you throughout the day whenever you need to feel cooler, steadier or more calm. 🌟

This practice is for everyone. The physical postures (asana) are gentle and accessible, and I hope it offers just the tonic needed for a warm Summer’s day.

I’d love to know how you get on.

“This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers”

First verse taken from Mary Oliver’s poem ‘Peonies’

Symbolic of the shift in seasons as we turn towards the Summer.

These Peonies stand proud in our front garden and every year they rise to meet us - and every year they prompt me to share this poem into classes.

We’re at the halfway point of Evolve Your Practice, Evolve Your Teaching.

A course I’ve developed for yoga teachers alongside

With three sessions still to come - I’m finding myself deeply grateful for the process unfolding through it.

We’ve moved between the Yoga Sutras, somatics, subtle body inquiry, autonomy, coaching and embodied practice - not as separate ideas, but as threads continually weaving into one another to inspire the way we practice and share with others.

What I’ve loved most is the collaborative nature of the space.

The reflections, questions, openness and willingness to explore together.

The practices themselves have been invitational in nature - rooted less in performance and more in listening, perception and relationship.

It feels as though something in my own teaching is quietly evolving too.

Less certainty perhaps.
More trust.
More space.
More curiosity.

Our next session will explore autonomy and agency through embodied practice - how awareness, discernment and perception shape the choices available to us both on and beyond the mat.

It’s been real turning point for me in many ways and I’m truly loving the process of self-inquiry - through practice, research, recording, writing and sharing! 🤍

Thanks to everyone who’s joined me so far!

It’s a week since our long weekend retreat in Llanberis and I’m still carrying that particular warmth that comes when people gather together in such a thoughtful and wholehearted way.

One guest wrote afterwards:

“Most of all I feel really nurtured and that was exactly what I needed.”

And I think that captures the weekend beautifully.

Together we celebrated Beltane and the beginning of summer with gentle yoga, mountain walks, sauna and cold water, incredible food, deep rest and lots of laughter - with plenty of quiet moments in between. 🌟

A huge thank you to Angharad for an unforgettable sound bath and to Anja for her beautiful massage therapies.

I felt genuinely humbled by everyone who joined us. The practices were a joy to share and I found myself exploring even more deeply the beautiful way yoga and somatics can help us soften, listen and reconnect.

And as always, I can’t quite believe how effortlessly Dave brings everything together behind the scenes - the warmth, the atmosphere, the food, the details. I feel very lucky to share this work, and life, with him. 💓

If you’ve been thinking about joining us in Llanberis, we still have 3 places remaining on our Summer Day Retreat on 11th July - a full day of yoga, nature, sauna, rest and good food.

More beautiful offerings are unfolding later this year too, including our photography retreat in September and our Samhain retreat at the turning of winter.

And next week I’ll be opening bookings for my Summer class block in Marple.
