💛A routine monthly massage led to an important conversation for Alwyn.
During his appointment, MASCED-accredited professional Sarah Helstrip noticed a mole on Alwyn’s back and suggested that it was worth getting checked by his GP.
Alwyn took Sarah’s advice. Following further assessment, the mole was removed and analysis confirmed that it contained melanoma.
A further excision was carried out and, thankfully, no cancerous cells were found in the larger sample.
Alwyn said:
“Because Sarah had helped me catch it so early on, this means I have the best possible chance of complete remission and no further spread.
I am incredibly grateful to her.”
This story is a powerful reminder of why skin awareness matters.
MASCED-accredited professionals are not there to diagnose skin cancer. But through training, they can become more confident in recognising suspicious skin changes and encouraging their clients to seek appropriate medical advice.
Sometimes, simply saying “Have you had that checked?” can make an enormous difference.💪
🙏Thank you to Alwyn for allowing us to share his story, and to Sarah Helstrip for putting her MASCED training into practice.
