A useful reminder that Hypnobirthing is for ANY type of birth. Pain relief or not. Intervention or not. C section or pool birth. Home birth or high tech hospital birth.
Lots of times I've heard people say hypnobirthing didn't work because....
💥 They felt pain
💥 They had an epidural
💥 They were induced
💥 They needed intervention or birth plan went out the window
💥 They had a c section
💥 They had a long drawn out labour and were exhausted
Sometimes all of this happens whether you are well prepared or not - let's keep it real.
It doesn't mean your hypnobirthing skills are useless if you didn't stick to your birth plan or if things change.
💥I tell you yes you'll probably feel pain
💥An epidural is absolutely fine if you want one
💥Induction isn't the enemy - you can still cope
💥Intervention is sometimes the way to go
💥Plans can and do go out the window
💥C section can still be a good birth
💥Long labours happen but you can get through it.
You may find all this surprising from a hypnobirthing teacher -
⁉️Don't we tell women that birth will be pain free if they just practice enough?
⁉️Don't we promise if you just visualise yourself opening like a flower you'll birth easily?
⁉️Don't we focus on natural intervention free birth?
⁉️Don't we just ban the word pain completely and change the language?
NO - not on my course! I keep it real!
None biased, down to earth, realistic, no nonsense, just practical effective methods.
Some of the parents who came back to tell me they absolutely got the best they could from my course, had the most intervention, and the least peaceful birth.
Having said all this, an overwhelmingly majority of my clients do report their labour was straightforward, manageable and some even do call it pain-free. But - let's plan for anything!
