So things are changing here & that’s okay. I am so grateful I have been able to continue working with new and existing clients online since leaving London. And it doesn’t mean I am closing my books on clients who want to continue to do so but I am being pulled in a different direction.
I first became fascinated by Traditional Chinese Medicine after experiencing a physical and mental breakdown / burnt out & suffering some very strange physical symptoms including whole body trembling, twitching eyes, palpitations so strong that felt like heart issues & most bizarrely a black rotten bully button. I went to the doctors, they took swabs numerous times but couldn’t pin point the cause nor name the infection. I went to see the nurse every other day for a month to have it packed and cleaned but it was still black & infected. I went to Ireland to visit family and my God Mother was working at a TCM clinic and she booked me in to see the Doctor there. I was given a multitude of herbs, my tongue was examined & I was asked about the stress I had experienced. She explained the impacts of stress, the root cause, the emotional impacts of what I had experienced & to pack the wound with Manuka honey as opposed to alcohol wipes. After a few days of honey and herbs it started to clear, as did the insane amount of stress that I had just become accustomed to living with due to my circumstances.
I went on to study Reflexology at The London School of Reflexology, and I didn’t have much belief in it but I had lost my career overnight due to an injury and my Mum encouraged me to retrain. And I am so glad I did - it blew me away. The benefits I personally experienced were so powerful. My sleep which had always been a big issue really started to improve, as did the anxiety, racing thoughts, my periods became more balanced and less painful. When I started to treat people I couldn’t believe the changes I witnessed, from unexplained infertility to healthy pregnancies, mental health improved, stress reduced significantly, clients coming off medications and antidepressants, emotional releases, calmer, happier & more balanced people with every treatment.
I have studied a lot since but nothing has blown in the same way as the NADA Detox Protocol. NADA is famous for principally two things: the treatment of trauma and PTSD, and also Detox from Substance or Alcohol Abuse. It is recognised as a potential treatment of choice by The International Red Cross and the NHS, amongst others. NADA is highly effective for a great many issues apart from trauma or detox: stress, anxiety, depression, menopause, ‘burnout’ syndromes and insomnia to name but a few. And upon meeting women on the course who had experienced numerous treatments they shared their benefits, including coming off all medications for pain, fibromyalgia, antidepressants, anxiety meds, no longer incontinent, addictions/vices reduced or eradicated, a deeper connection to self, more compassion, more kindness to self and others.
Over the course there was a powerful ripple effect and it was extraordinary to witness. And I love that it has reconnected me to TCM because it is such a holistic approach to health - looking at root cause, emotions stored in the body, the oxidative impact of stress, and it is a gentle encouragement from internal chaos to calm, a nurturing guidance to homeostasis aka balance. The NADA model has been integrated include addictions, psychiatric/mental health, prisons, disaster relief, refugee settings, pastoral care, humanitarian aid, sickle cell, cancer and HIV/ADS care.
Referred to as ’the thief in the night’ - the changes are gentle, subtle & nourishing.
Just 5 pins in each ear which target the Central Nervous System which encourages the body to move out of fight/flight response into rest and digest where the body can relax and heal.
1. Sympathetic - calms the autonomic nervous system, provides a strong analgesic & relaxant on the body + internal organs. Reduces stress reactions.
2. Shen Men - also known as the Spirit Gate, which calms the mind and spirit. Reducing stress and anxiety, emotional imbalance, lowers hypertension, reduces anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain. Promoting a deep mental calm.
3. Kidneys - this point governs the process of aging, supports the healing of internal organs, reproduction, vitality and sexual function. Encourages willpower, self worth and confidence. The kidneys are associated with fear and worry.
4. Liver - regulates mood, digestion and hormonal balance as well as detoxification. The liver is associated with anger, aggression, resentment, irritibiltiy, stuck emotions, and depression - think of an angry drunk.
5. Lungs - regulates skin, temperature & immunity. Associated with grief, sadness, melencholy, loss and letting go (of losses, addictions and patterns). When regulated it encourages the process of ‘letting go’ of heavy emotions, sadness and heaviness.
These are just to name a few of the functions and as ‘out there or woo’ as it may seem, it is truly groundbreaking. I used to let my Mum do Reflexology on my feet because I enjoyed the feeling with no idea of the power in it. Western Medicine generally looks at masking symptoms, numbing or medicating as opposed to seeing the body, mind and spirit as one.
I am very excited to start offering this treatment both here is Scotland and in London, in fact wherever I go - ill keep a pack of pins with me because this can help so many people and the fact that it is used worldwide, funded in the UK by the NHS, says everything about its effectiveness. I am just organising insurance and a few things my end before I start offering this service. But if you are interested then please drop me a message as ill start a wait list.
As always thank you for your support and especially to Cal who has pushed me when I’ve needed a kick up the arse to get the ball rolling on the next stage of my business. x
