Pain can affect more than movement. It can affect confidence, sleep, mood, work, family life, and the activities you enjoy.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, it’s a good reminder that feeling supported and understood matters, especially when pain has been going on for a while.

At RAD Clinics, physiotherapy starts with an initial assessment. This gives us time to understand your symptoms, what matters to you, how the problem affects your day, and what your goals are. From there, we can discuss a practical plan, which may include advice, movement strategies, exercises, and follow-up sessions.

Physiotherapy may be suitable for many MSK concerns, including shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot and lower back pain.

Our team is friendly, reassuring, clear and realistic. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all advice.

May often means more movement, longer walks, park runs, children’s sports days, garden projects, and getting back into lighter footwear.

But foot and ankle pain can quickly affect how you move through the day. Pain around the heel, arch, ankle, Achilles area, or forefoot may come from different causes, so guessing is not always helpful.

At RAD Clinics, we assess foot and ankle pain as part of our MSK service. Where appropriate, MSK ultrasound can help look at certain soft tissue structures, and we offer physiotherapy and ultrasound-guided injections when clinically suitable.

We are a one-stop MSK clinic offering assessment, ultrasound scanning, and treatment in a single appointment.

Booking a pelvic ultrasound can feel personal, and it’s completely normal to have questions before you attend.

At RAD Clinics, we offer private women’s health and pelvic ultrasound scans in a respectful, professional environment. Your clinician will explain what the scan involves, answer questions, and make sure you feel informed throughout the appointment.

A pelvic ultrasound may be requested for a range of non-urgent concerns, depending on your symptoms and clinical needs. We keep the language clear and avoid unnecessary jargon, so you understand what is happening and what the next steps may be.

Self-referrals are welcome, which means you do not always need to wait for a GP referral to begin seeking clarity for a non-urgent concern.

PRP therapy is often talked about online, but it’s important to separate the hype from the facts.

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It involves using a sample of your own blood, which is processed to concentrate platelets, then injected into a targeted area where clinically appropriate.

Myth: “PRP is a quick fix.”
Reality: PRP is not an instant solution and is not suitable for every condition. A proper assessment is needed first.

Myth: “All injections are the same.”
Reality: At RAD Clinics, injections are ultrasound-guided, meaning ultrasound imaging is used to help guide the injection to the intended area.

Myth: “You need a GP referral.”
Reality: Self-referrals are welcome. You can also call to discuss whether RAD Clinics may be suitable for your concern.

PRP may be considered for selected MSK conditions, depending on your symptoms, assessment, and clinical suitability.

As the weather warms up and we swap jumpers for lighter layers, many people notice lumps, bumps or soft tissue changes they had not paid much attention to before.

It can feel worrying to find something new, and it’s natural to want clarity. At RAD Clinics, we offer private ultrasound scans for lumps and bumps. Ultrasound may help assess certain soft tissue areas and support next steps, depending on the nature and location of the concern.

Your appointment is handled sensitively and professionally. We’ll explain what happens during the scan and what the findings may mean in plain English, without rushing you.

Please remember: new, changing, painful, or concerning lumps should always be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional. If urgent symptoms are present, seek urgent medical advice.

For non-urgent concerns, self-referrals are welcome at RAD Clinics in Northampton, Milton Keynes, and now also in St Neots.

May is when gardens, allotments and weekend DIY projects start calling — but shoulders don’t always appreciate the sudden increase in lifting, pruning, digging or reaching overhead.

Shoulder pain can come from a range of causes, including tendon irritation, joint stiffness, bursitis, or frozen shoulder. Sometimes rest helps, but if the pain keeps returning, affects sleep, or limits movement, a proper assessment can be useful.

At RAD Clinics, we assess shoulder pain and can use MSK ultrasound where appropriate to look at certain soft tissue structures. We also offer physiotherapy and ultrasound-guided injections where clinically suitable, including steroid/cortisone injections and hydrodilatation for frozen shoulder.

Every injection at RAD Clinics is ultrasound-guided, meaning the clinician uses ultrasound imaging to guide treatment to the intended area.

You do not need a GP referral. Our clinics are located in Northampton, Milton Keynes, and now also in St Neots.

Feeling unsure about booking an ultrasound scan?

That’s completely understandable, especially if you’ve never had one before.

At RAD Clinics, we aim to make the process calm, clear, and straightforward. You can self-refer for a range of private ultrasound scans, including MSK, abdominal, upper abdomen and pelvis, renal/urinary tract, hernia, thyroid and neck, men’s health and scrotal, women’s health and pelvis, lumps and bumps, and foreign body scans.

During your appointment, the clinician will explain what is being scanned, apply ultrasound gel to the area, and use a handheld probe to create images. You can ask questions, and we’ll talk you through what happens next.

Ultrasound does not involve radiation, and appointments are designed to be convenient, real-time, and reassuring.

With clinics in Northampton and Milton Keynes, and now open in St Neots, we’re here when you want clearer information about a non-urgent concern.

The London Marathon was just days ago. Congratulations if you completed it. That's an incredible achievement.

But the days after a marathon can be tough on the body. Knee pain, stiffness, swelling, or that ache that just won't settle down are all common in the weeks that follow, and they deserve proper attention, not just rest and hope.

Whether you ran 26.2 miles last weekend, you're walking more this National Walking Month, or knee pain has simply been building up over time, it may be worth getting it properly assessed.

At RAD Clinics, we see adults and children with knee pain linked to muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and soft tissue concerns. Where appropriate, diagnostic ultrasound can help us look at certain soft tissue structures in real time, and our clinicians can guide you on the right next steps.

We also offer ultrasound-guided MSK injections where clinically suitable, including steroid/cortisone, hyaluronic acid, Arthrosamid, and PRP therapy.

No GP referral is needed, and we offer a free phone consultation to help you understand whether we're the right place to start.

Take the next step for your knee health: book online at radclinics.co.uk or call us today for more information.
