Just in case you’re wondering what BWRT® stands for…

BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®. It is an exciting, relatively new form of psychotherapy, carried out while you remain fully conscious and in control.

The process can be carried out content-free, which means you don’t need to disclose all the details of an experience if you would prefer to keep them private. Sessions are confidential, and BWRT can often produce noticeable results surprisingly quickly.

BWRT works with the brain’s automatic, conditioned response to situations it perceives as uncomfortable or difficult. It helps to neutralise the old response and replace it with a preferred one, so the usual symptoms of anxiety may no longer be triggered in the same way.

One of the things clients notice is that memories which once caused distress can be revisited without the same automatic emotional reaction, helping them move forward without feeling held back by the past.

BWRT can help you overcome psychological blocks, create and reinforce more empowering responses, build confidence and help you life your life in a way that feels natural.

I trained with Terence Watts, the founder of BWRT®, during the early days of the therapy and have used it in my practice ever since.

People are often surprised by how quickly and effectively BWRT can work. Some notice a difference almost immediately, with their new responses becoming more firmly established over time.

🎉The Mayo Clinic Recognises the Role of Hypnosis 🎉

It’s encouraging to see hypnosis and hypnotherapy recognised by one of the world’s leading medical organisations.

Hypnosis is sometimes misunderstood as entertainment or a loss of control. In reality, it can help you enter a calm, focused state in which your nervous system feels safer and your mind becomes more receptive to helpful ideas, new perspectives and more beneficial ways of responding.

Clinical hypnosis uses focused attention, imagination and therapeutic suggestion to help people influence their own thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and habitual responses.

A review published in the respected Mayo Clinic Proceedings examined research into the use of hypnosis for a range of medical conditions. It found encouraging evidence that hypnosis may help people manage pain, reduce anxiety surrounding medical procedures, ease certain digestive symptoms and cope with some of the side effects associated with medical treatment.

It has also been explored in areas such as childbirth, smoking cessation and stress-related physical symptoms.

During hypnosis, you remain aware and in control. You may feel completely relaxed while, at the same time, remaining an active participant in the experience. The process can help you become more receptive to helpful ideas, rehearse different responses and make better use of your own inner abilities.

Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for necessary medical care. It can work alongside it, helping people feel calmer, more confident and better able to manage their symptoms and responses.

The Mayo Clinic’s current patient information states that hypnosis may help people cope with pain, stress and anxiety, support certain behavioural changes, and ease anxiety surrounding medical or dental procedures.

Are your habits supporting long term health and happiness? Will your Future Self thank you for what you do today?

Sometimes we get complacent and keep doing the same thing, getting the same result and wonder why. The thing is - nothing changes until you change.

Your amazing brain has the ability to redirect your attention away from the pull of instant gratification and towards the joy of long term success and happiness.

The fuel the propels you forward is your compelling reason. When you have a big enough reason to do something different, and it is more exciting than staying as you are, the energy from the excitement gives you the ability to do what you need to do.

“Long-term thinking changes short-term actions. Spend a little time today doing things that will benefit you in ten years." - James Clear - Atomic Habits

Hypnotherapy opens your inner eye to the benefits of making small consistent changes in your daily routine, and speaks to the part of your brain that runs the programme.

All you have to do is open your mind to the power of your own brain. Take a moment now to imagine yourself at some point in the future having made the change, repeated the daily habits the support you and reaped the rewards. How will that make you feel?

Let the excitement of success fuel you to take the first step today.

I’m here if you need a helping hand.

Anger or Calm - Which will you choose?

Does anger sometimes take over - rising like a volcano inside you, as your heart races, your body tenses and the pressure builds until it suddenly erupts?

When I trained in NonViolent Communication (NVC) back in 2014, the jackal and giraffe were used to represent two different ways of responding.

The jackal reacts automatically. It may blame, judge, criticise or become aggressive when someone crosses the line they have drawn in the sand. It does not pause to consider the bigger picture or how its behaviour affects others. It has a reputation for being mean.

The giraffe has the largest heart of any land animal. Its long neck allows it to see from above, giving it a wider perspective. It represents our ability to pause, listen and respond with calmness, understanding and compassion.

Anger can work like the jackal. When an old automatic pattern is triggered, we may react before the conscious mind has time to consider what is really happening. We might then say or do something we later regret.

The giraffe within us can always rise up, see the bigger picture, and choose a better response aligned with our values and positive intentions.

We can learn to recognise the triggers that set off these automatic reactions and reduce their power. By creating new, calmer associations, we give the brain a better option - one that feels safe, balanced and more in keeping with how we want to be.

When we practice mindful awareness, we can begin to notice these patterns, pause, take a breath and choose a better response. It takes a bit of time, practice and repetition but the rewards are worth it.

If anger is affecting your relationships or wellbeing, please feel free to message me if you would like support. Hypnotherapy and BWRT can help you manage anger more effectively, reduce the power of old triggers and develop calmer, more helpful ways of responding.

It’s always lovely to hear how someone is getting on after therapy, but sometimes feedback comes back to me in the most unexpected ways.

A new client recently told me that I had worked with her dad some time ago, when he was struggling with stress and anxiety. She said the change in him had been remarkable — calmer, healthier and enjoying life again.

And now, because of the difference she saw in him, she has come to see me herself.

I think that might be one of the nicest recommendations I could receive. 💗

Sometimes the changes we make within ourselves can ripple out and benefit others too.

What goes on inside your mind is your own business. What goes on in a hypnotherapy session is also your own business - nobody else's. Confidentiality is something I take seriously and would like to assure you that your anonymity is assured.

I see people from all walks of life, all professions, all ages from age 16 upwards to (so far ) 82.

It's never too old to make a positive change in your life. Your brain is capable of change throughout your entire lifetime and many of the limitations people come across are ones they have placed upon themselves, consciously or unconsciously.

The first step is to do your research, look around and find someone you resonate with, someone experienced and who can help you with your personal issues in a holistic way. After all, you are a whole person and the mind, body & spirit is one integrated system. There is no separation in a whole person.

Hypnotherapy, BWRT (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) and Reiki Energy Therapy can enhance your wellbeing in ways that seem to ripple out into your life in more ways than one. The benefits can be seen or felt in areas even that were not addressed specifically during a session.

One client recently emailed me after our sessions ended and said:

"May I thank you for your time, professionalism, and discretion which I have enjoyed immensely. Our sessions have been so productive for me and have allowed me to stop being so shut in and to be able to see a more relaxed and considered world."

If you need some help, but don't know where to start, most therapists offer a free consultation to see if you are a right fit to work together.

Hypnotherapy helps by working with the automatic patterns in the brain and nervous system, so that you can feel calmer, more in control and confident over time.

Everyone is different so the first thing we do is understand more about the underlying reasons for the anxiety in the first place.

Feel free to ask any questions, or get in touch to find out more about how hypnotherapy can help you.

Have you ever been curious about hypnosis and wondered who is really in control?

The reality may surprise you. Hypnosis isn't something that's done to you. The person creating the change, is you.

In reality, changes happen when your own mind becomes an active participant, as you engage your senses and imagination with positive intention.

Most people feel deeply relaxed during hypnosis, but you don't have to be completely relaxed for it to be effective. It depends on what you want to achieve and the type of hypnosis we're using.

Self-awareness really is the key to self-mastery, and hypnosis helps you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, giving you greater choice over how you respond.

Whether you're looking for inner calm, increased confidence, more motivation or healthier habits, hypnosis helps you develop the mindset to support the life you want to create. At the same time, your subconscious can begin to let go of old patterns and discover new ways of responding, making positive change feel more natural and automatic.

🌸 Is there something you've ever wondered about hypnosis? I'd love to answer your questions in the comments.

Therapy Online – Zoom Your Way to Wellbeing 😀

One of the questions I'm asked often is:
"Does therapy on Zoom really work?"

It's a great question—and one I hear regularly.

In this short video, I explain why online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions for many people, along with some of the benefits.

If you've ever wondered whether you could really connect with a therapist through a screen, this video is for you.

Therapy on Zoom can feel natural, relaxed and convenient, fitting easily around work, school, family life and other commitments.

I'd love to know your thoughts - and feel free to ask any questions.
