Aesthetics can feel like a bit of a minefield, especially when there’s so much conflicting information online.

So I’m starting a regular FAQ series where I answer the questions I get asked most often in clinic — honestly, clearly, and without the jargon.

A little reminder that the polished 30-second reel you see on Instagram probably took me about 47 attempts to make 😂

Wrong words, blank stares, forgetting what I’m saying halfway through… and apparently losing the ability to speak the second the camera turns on.

I love creating content to educate you about skin and aesthetics, but it definitely doesn’t come naturally every time. Behind every “effortless” reel is a camera roll full of THIS. 🤦🏼‍♀️

So here’s your reminder that Instagram is the edited version — none of us are quite as polished as our feed makes us look.

Anyway… enjoy me being humbled for the next 30 seconds. 😂🤍

Your face isn’t a trend.

Trends change. Faces are individual.

Aesthetic treatments should never be about chasing the latest look, copying someone else’s features or trying to fit into whatever is popular online right now.

For me, good aesthetics is about looking at your face as a whole, respecting your natural features and making subtle changes that still feel like you.

No copy-and-paste faces. No unnecessary treatment. No chasing perfection.

Just thoughtful, individual treatment with the aim of helping you look refreshed, balanced and still completely yourself. 🤍

Under-eye treatment… does it hurt? 👀

This is probably one of the biggest worries people have before treatment, but it’s often much more comfortable than you imagine.

We use numbing cream beforehand and take our time throughout the treatment, checking in with you as we go.

As you can hear from my lovely patient here — she’s very comfortable 🤍

You may feel a little pressure or the occasional pinch, but for most people, the anticipation is worse than the actual treatment.

If fear of pain has been putting you off, hopefully this makes it feel a little less daunting.

Every treatment starts with a consultation to make sure it’s appropriate for you.

Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. 👀

At-home microneedling devices are everywhere — but microneedling is a treatment that relies on controlled trauma, correct needle depth, sterile technique and appropriate skin preparation.

Done professionally, it’s tailored to your skin, your concerns and the outcome we’re trying to achieve. Done incorrectly, you could be looking at irritation, infection, pigmentation or unnecessary damage to the skin barrier.

Your skin deserves a little more consideration than an impulse buy and a YouTube tutorial. 🤍

How to choose:

Go for broad spectrum UVA/UVB.
In the UK, look for high UVA protection (e.g. UVA circle / 4–5 star rating).
Use SPF 30+ daily, and SPF 50 for strong sun, holidays, or if you’re prone to pigmentation

Reapplication
Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors, and after sweating/swimming/towelling.

If you’ve got sensitive skin, try mineral or fragrance-free options. If you hate the feel, try a lighter chemical formula. Either way — daily SPF is a skin-health habit.
