The C Word… (No, not that one!)
Today marked our very first Let's Talk Coffee Morning at SG Aesthetics.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this being a subject particularly close to my heart, I wanted to create something a little different.
A morning dedicated to bringing together ladies who have experienced cancer or are currently navigating their own journey. A space to talk, listen, share experiences, laugh and simply enjoy some time together.
What made today particularly poignant was that one of our lovely ladies was awaiting results later that day — and I'm delighted to share that she received positive news, with clear margins. Another lady was preparing to begin her very first chemotherapy treatment.
Different stages, different experiences, but a shared understanding of just how much a cancer diagnosis can change your world.
Our ladies were also invited to enjoy a complimentary treatment with the lovely Jo, holistic therapist, choosing from auricular acupuncture, reflexology or a relaxing massage.
And of course, no coffee morning would be complete without beautiful cakes supplied by Arlo Jesmond
SG Aesthetics has always been about more than aesthetics. It's about people, relationships and genuinely caring for those who walk through our doors.
Thank you to every lovely ladies who joined us today, for your openness, warmth and laughter. It was a privilege to bring everyone together.

Sometimes, it’s not that your treatment has stopped working. It’s that your skin is changing. As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen, elasticity and hydration, which can affect the results we see from anti-wrinkle treatments.

Botulinum toxin works by relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines, but it doesn't address every aspect of skin ageing.

If you're noticing that lines remain visible even when your face is relaxed, or your skin is becoming thinner, crepey or less smooth, it may be time to consider a different approach.

At SG Aesthetics, I look at the face as a whole, rather than focusing on individual lines or wrinkles.

A really lovely result following just one ablative plasma treatment. 🤍

This patient wanted to improve the loose, crepey skin around the eye area. Ablative plasma works by creating controlled points of treatment to the skin, encouraging tightening and remodelling as the area heals. What I particularly love about this result is the visible improvement around the upper eyelids while still looking completely like her.

These photographs are a genuine before and after from one treatment only, taken in the same room and under the same lighting. Ablative plasma is not to be confused with NeoGen plasma, which is a different treatment and technology.

For me, SG Aesthetics has always been about more than simply coming in for a treatment.

When you visit me for a consultation or appointment, I want you to feel comfortable, unhurried and able to talk openly about what’s really going on.

Whether it’s ageing, menopause, confidence, changes in how you feel about yourself, or simply questions about treatment, there’s always time for a proper conversation, and usually a coffee too. 🤍

There’s never any pressure to have a treatment. My role is to listen, understand what’s important to you and give you honest advice about what I feel is right for you.

Collagen plays such an important role in the strength, structure and quality of our skin, but our ability to produce it naturally changes as we get older.

From early adulthood, collagen production gradually declines. Over time, this contributes to some of the changes we associate with ageing, including reduced firmness and elasticity, changes in skin texture and the gradual loss of structural support.

But ageing skin isn’t simply about replacing lost volume. When I assess a patient, I look at skin quality, facial structure and the ageing process as a whole. Depending on what I see, we can then discuss treatments designed to support the skin and stimulate its own regenerative processes, rather than simply adding more product.

There is no single treatment that is right for everyone. The key is understanding what your skin actually needs and choosing the right approach for you. 🤍

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful Jenny Scragg from Neogen, who came to demonstrate their non-ablative plasma treatment. ✨

As with any new technology or treatment I consider introducing at the clinic, I like to do my research properly — but for me, that also means experiencing it as a patient.

I’ve had the Neogen treatment myself, because I want to understand the whole patient journey first-hand — the sensation during treatment, the recovery afterwards, how the skin feels and changes, and ultimately, the results.

I don’t believe in investing in equipment simply because it’s the latest treatment or because everyone else is talking about it.

I need to genuinely believe in it, understand it and feel confident that it can offer something worthwhile to my patients.

So now comes the interesting part… ✨

I’m patiently watching how my own skin responds over the coming weeks, documenting the changes and assessing the results for myself.

Because before I recommend something to my patients, I want to experience it as a patient too. 🤍

Facial Balancing with HArmonyCa® 🤍

Facial balancing isn’t simply about adding volume. It’s about understanding the underlying anatomy, facial ligaments and how the face changes with age, then placing treatment precisely where it can create the most harmonious result.

One of the techniques I use with HArmonyCa® is strategic placement behind the ligament line, working with the deeper supporting structures of the face rather than simply adding volume superficially.

This approach can help to support and subtly lift the mid-face, improve facial proportions and restore definition where structural support has been lost. It can also create a smoother transition between the cheek, mid-face and lower face, enhancing the overall architecture of the face while maintaining the patient’s individual features.

The aim isn’t to make the face look “filled”. It’s to restore structure, support and balance while still looking like you. Every face is different, which is why consultation and careful assessment are such an important part of my approach.

This patient came to see me for an assessment following previous tear trough filler, to explore the best way to achieve a more harmonious and balanced result. Rather than simply adding more product, the first step was to dissolve the existing filler and reassess the area properly.

From there, I was able to take a more considered approach, gradually restoring and supporting the surrounding areas using a combination of dermal filler and polynucleotides.

The eye area is delicate, and sometimes the best way to improve it isn’t to treat the tear trough directly. It’s about looking at the face as a whole and understanding where support is actually needed.

For me, good aesthetic medicine is just as much about knowing what not to treat as knowing what to treat. 🤍

We don’t inject faces the way we did 20 years ago — and that’s a good thing.

As our understanding of facial anatomy and injection techniques has evolved, so has the way we approach dermal fillers.

Back in the early 2000s, we would often use relatively high G′ filler directly into the vermilion border to create definition. Today, our approach is much more subtle and sophisticated.

We don’t chase lines anymore. Instead, we look at the face as a whole and restore volume where it has been lost.

Using softer fillers and more refined techniques, we can create balance, harmony and support without making the face look “filled”.

It’s about taking a full-face approach rather than treating individual lines or areas in isolation.

✨ Less about adding more. More about restoring what’s been lost.
