Csilla Bach Flower Bach Flower Remedies help with emotions in all sorts of situations every day. Seize the day! There are 38 remedies in the Bach Flower system.

They were discovered in the 1920s and 1930s by Dr Edward Bach, a well-known bacteriologist, physician and pathologist. The Bach Flower System is a natural, vegan complementary healing method to help you achieve emotional balance. Bach Flower Remedies are 38 flower essences, each one derived from a different wild flower, plant or tree, and each corresponding to a specific emotion. The vibration of

specific flowers are transferred to water, and that water is preserved in alcohol (brandy) and bottled. When you take a drop of that remedy, your energetic field receives the essence of the flower. The drops can be added into drinks individually or mixed together for different emotional and mental states. The Bach Flower System works on the principle that we have all the resources we need within us, we just need help at times to access them. I am a fully qualified Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner (BFRP). Please contact me for a non-obligation informal chat. If you already know which remedies you need, I can make up the Personal Mix Bottle for you costing £15 with delivery. I originally trained as a Special Needs Teacher and became a Makaton Tutor in 2007. I enjoyed training carers and teachers to use the Makaton System to help people with communication problems. If needed I can use the Makaton System during consultations. I can also speak fluent Hungarian. Please get in touch with me:

We are often asked how one remedy compares to another; what the differences are between certain remedies where descriptions are similar or have similar elements, or whether two remedies of apparently ‘opposing virtues’ can be given together. Walnut has been the subject of several questions recen...

The Cleanser. Are you preoccupied with your appearance, say how you feel you 'don't look right' (even if others tell you the contrary) or 'feel toxic' or are maybe verging on the germ-phobic and forever cleaning your home or desk, or washing your hands? Perhaps you are struggling with self-image issues, binge eating or excessive dieting? If so, Crab Apple will help soothe those feelings.

In Dr Bach's little book The Twelve Healers and other Remedies he described Crab Apple (using his terminology of being a surgeon and bacteriologist)as:

“For those who feel as if they had something not quite clean about themselves. Often it is something of apparently little importance; in others there may be more serious disease which is almost disregarded compared to the one thing on which they concentrate. In both types they are anxious to be free from the one particular thing which is greatest in their minds and which seems so essential to them it should be cured. They become despondent if treatment fails. Being a cleanser, this remedy purifies wounds if the patient has reason to be believe that some poison has entered which must be drawn out.”

A metaphorical perspective on Crab Apple illustrates that the poisoning begins in the thoughts.

Dr Bach maintained that the our thoughts and emotions are at the root of all our difficulties and that by using the Bach Flower we can find a path to restoring harmony between soul and personalty. There are various factors that can contribute to a health issue, one of which is who we are as individuals. How we live our life, how we manage professional and personal relationships, our feelings, cope with stress, juggle demands, how we eat (as well as what we eat) and so on... Whatever is going on with our health may have external contributory factors but we are also always in the equation. The Bach flowers are not a quick fix, a short cut to some sort of spiritual enlightenment. We have to work at it .... or not. After all, it’s entirely down to personal choice.

When we do the work on ourselves, and are coming from the best possible place within, we are less likely to be so vulnerable to the health issues that derail us. In my own experience, and from the experience of clients and colleagues, I know without question that a dedicated approach to working with the Bach flowers, as set down by Dr Bach, and a resolve to put the time in to heal our own wounds, we can begin to live healthier lives.

Bach Foundation Registered Practitioners (BFRP) make no claims for curing clinical conditions. We guide you to learn more about the 38 flowers and yourself with this simple, gentle self-help system that has helped millions of people around the world.

Children and Bach flowers. Collecting my 11 year-old granddaughter this weekend, I got to hear her news. As she chatted in the car about various things, the more she mentioned how she was feeling less than her best. I listened, made reassuring noises and let her talk. We stopped at the local shop for ice cream and, as we got back into the car, I casually wondered out loud whether she might like to choose some Bach flowers for herself. She immediately said yes. In the past I have made mixes for her but it felt like it was time to hand over to her completely.

My granddaughter enjoys nature and is very creative, loves the visual and tactile, so I decided to bring out the Bach Flower Pictorial Reference Cards. I gave them to her with the instruction to focus on the description of each (on the back of the card that also includes where first found by Dr Bach and how made), and see which she thought sounded most like her, and to choose no more than seven.

While she remained at the kitchen table, I carried on making lunch (giving her space), noticing how she was methodically sorting them into three piles: definite yes, maybe, and no.

When she had gone through all 38 she asked how to choose between flowers that she’d noticed were similar but different — such as Clematis and Wild Rose. So I explained a little of the subtleties (with no bias from me) and without hesitation she decided what made her final selection. I then gave her my Bach set and a treatment bottle to make, and a label to write.

I was impressed by her self-awareness, being able to identify her feelings and the corresponding flowers. I wouldn’t have chosen anything differently for her. Not that I was asked to!

If you’re interested in using these cards, the Bach Centre sell them.

With smaller children, I often refer to the flowers as super heroes or flower fairies, and if a child can read, will ask them to pick the bottle out of the box. They are curious and want to know more.

Children respond beautifully to the Bach flowers, it’s as if the layers of life haven’t yet become so weighty. What are your stories of how Bach flowers have helped children? 🌺

This month I’ve been doing quite a bit of public speaking, talking about plants and their uses. I often mention the synergy between the different chemical components at play in a plant so I started thinking about what kind(s) of synergy might be involved when we use the Bach flower remedies. But f...
