I’ve been a little quieter on here recently because behind the scenes Mrs MacLaughter has been evolving.

For a long time my work sat between different worlds — wellbeing, education, laughter-based practice, facilitation and stress support.

I knew the sessions were helping people, but I also knew there was something deeper developing underneath it all.

Over the past few months I’ve been refining that into a clearer structure:

The MacLaughter Method.

A practical stress response method designed to help people understand & redirect stress through two simple tools:

We often try to think our way out of stress.
And sometimes, that’s where it starts — with a thought.
But once stress takes hold, it’s no longer just in the mind.
It’s felt in the body.
And when the body feels overwhelmed, clear thinking becomes harder.
That’s why breath is where we begin.
Before anything else, we regulate.
Because when the body begins to feel safer,
the mind can think more clearly, and we can respond — not just react.
A simple starting point.
But one that changes everything that follows.
