The Carer Connect (Much Wenlock) group were given exclusive access to Sunnycroft last week for our annual ‘away day’ hosted by Site Manager Lou Hall and her amazing team of National Trust volunteers.

We enjoyed afternoon tea in the sunshine and were then able to explore the house and garden at our leisure. A great way to celebrate with our own volunteers who help us each month.

Carer Connect provides a supportive space for unpaid carers and the people they care for, helping to reduce isolation and strengthen links to local services and community support.

Our programme for the year includes music, gentle physical activity, community performances, social outings and seasonal events. Our sessions are Dementia friendly and are supported by Julie Rose, Dementia Link Worker for the Alzheimer's Society.

The Carer Connect group will be meeting at Priory Hall on Tuesday 5th May from 2pm.

🎶 We are joined this month by Conductor and Musical Director of the Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir, Richard Fox 🎶.

Richard will be putting us through our musical paces with some light hearted choir practice.

This is a Dementia Friendly group supported by Julie Rose from the Alzheimer’s Society.

Refreshments will be served from 2pm.

🌼 Carer Connect – February 🌼

Our first Carer Connect session of 2026 was a lovely afternoon spent at Wenlock Pottery. Despite the wet and windy weather, we were welcomed by a cosy fire, afternoon tea served in beautiful hand‑thrown stoneware, and great company.

This month’s theme was a simple ‘Memory Café’. We explored memory bags from the Library, shared personal photos and books, and enjoyed hearing Mike’s fascinating stories about the history of Wenlock Pottery and how it has grown and changed over the years.

A big thank you to Julie Rose from the Alzheimer’s Society, our brilliant volunteers, and The Friendly Bus for helping some of our members get to the session.

Carer Connect is a friendly monthly group for unpaid carers and those they care for — a place to relax, meet others and connect with local support. This year’s programme includes music, gentle exercise, performances, a Summer away day and a festive finale in December.
