So after a rough few days with food poisoning I was super relieved to be well enough to still set off this morning. Got to say I’m completely out of my comfort zone having not been well, having my Endo ramping up and having never driven to Ireland or onto a Ferry… today is a day of firsts and unknowns so it’d be daft to think I wouldn’t be a bit apprehensive. I’ve got a 2hr drive once I arrive at Dublin to get to my first destination and to be honest I think I’ll be mostly trying to rest and hide from the rain 🇮🇪

Be kind, eat your greens, get out into nature, touch those trees and breathe that clean air. The world’s sh*t at times but don’t stop seeing the positive, the honest, the possibilities. Not everything is straight forward or obvious and I can genuinely say I’ve never forgotten a random act of kindness especially on my darkest days… you never know what people are carrying but you could be the one to lift some of it from them ❤️

I rode out on my MTB to find this site this summer with a friend. Sadly I have read that no less than twelve aircraft had met their final resting place here between Minera, Esclusham and Ruabon Mountain during the war years with up to 15 pilots and aircrew lost. The Airman’s monument as it is officially referred to is visible from Google Earth and is a three meter cross of stones so quite something to see when you reach it in person. It isn’t a grave (I read that all of the airmen involved are interred elsewhere) but it’s very often referred to as the Airman’s Grave by locals and from what I can see, the cross has been there for at least 20 years going back through Google Earths historic imagery. Whoever was responsible for creating this beautiful monument went to great lengths to do so through as some of the stones are very large and heavy and will have been moved quite some way.

Just your friendly reminder that no matter how tough it is… you’re tougher. I’m nothing special but consistency and the ability to keep getting back up and fighting will get you we’re you want to be, sometimes the changes are so small you don’t see them day to day but they add up! Whatever it is you’re chasing, keep getting back up and go get it 👊🏻 23st.4lbs down to 12st10lbs and still working at who I want to be 💛🎗️

Next up… DI**LE HALF MARATHON 🫣 yes, after having such an easy time at the Antrim half, a week today I set off for Di**le. This time via ferry in my trusty little van Scarlet. This will be a six day endeavour where I’m hoping to explore some beautiful places en route before the race itself. Hopefully health allowing I’ll be taking in a sea safari, checking out the Di**le coastline and doing a bit of seal/whale spotting as well as visiting Blarney Castle where (again health allowing) I’ll be dangled backwards at the top of the castle to kiss their famous stone (they say it’s good luck and boy could I do with some of that right now). So in theory, hopefully, ideally… stunning locations, a bit of adventuring, one of the most scenic half marathons and the reassurance of my little van if I go into a flare up.

It wasn’t pretty, it hurt like a MF but a great race that I would recommend to anyone looking for a scenic coastal half. Hopefully now with the distance in my legs I can try and claw back a bit more fitness before my next one… and where’s that? Tell you soon in another post 💛🎗️

Obligatory pre race bathroom selfie ritual and a very beautiful but somber visit to the Titanic Museum and SS Nomadic today before heading out to Antrim tomorrow morning to attempt some fitness 🤦🏼‍♀️🇮🇪☘️

Thinking to myself how lucky I am regardless off my health because I get to show up for those that maybe can’t tomorrow, I fully admit I can get pulled down with my pain levels day to day but even at my worse I can still walk (albeit with help and not very far)… that’s a blessing not all of us get, I really want to just give something back to anyone struggling. There are still great days ahead, you are stronger than you think and you will never really know who you could be helping out of a dark place so keep fighting 💛🎗️

Ever feel like this? Just to be in nature… no expectations, no worries, no drama, no idiots… literally just good stuff! Fresh air, peace, quiet mind, calm soul, room to breathe. Absolute bliss
