A Positive Aspiration Is A Sign Of A Safe Practitioner 💉

What Is A Positive Aspiration ?

When injecting dermal filler, aspiration involves pulling back on the syringe plunger before injecting. In this case, blood entering the syringe gave a positive aspiration, indicating that the needle may be positioned within a blood vessel.

And that means we don’t inject.

The needle is withdrawn, changed/repositioned and the area reassessed before continuing treatment.

It’s a small moment that clients would normally never see, but an important reminder that injectable treatments aren’t simply about creating beautiful results.

They require anatomical knowledge, clinical judgement, complication awareness and knowing when NOT to inject.
