In warmer weather, it goes without saying that we need to keep our fluids up. After all, our brains are made up of about 70% water.💧

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that staying hydrated is a key part of keeping our energy levels balanced and our minds sharp. Have a cold drink nearby that you can easily grab whenever you are active – your body will certainly thank you for it.

Debbie always reminds her classes that dehydration makes you feel sluggish and fuzzy-headed, because it literally causes your brain tissue to shrink! 🧠📉

If you have any existing medical conditions, please remember to consult with your doctor first. Also, you know your body and your limits better than anyone else. If it feels too hot to exercise, then don't.

It is Dementia Action Week, a timely reminder of how meaningful activity and connection can help people live more fulfilled lives for longer. While traditional exercise can sometimes feel intimidating or impractical, chair-based movement offers a safe, gentle way to stay active together. 🪑

Whether it is seated marching to a favourite song or a simple game of ball pass, these gentle movements help loosen stiff muscles, reduce anxiety and bring moments of joy to both individuals and their carers. 🎶✨

We have shared seven simple chair-based exercises you can easily build into your daily routine at home. 🏡

When we walk, we sometimes have a tendency to look down at our feet. While it is important to be aware of where we are stepping, occasionally lifting your gaze to the horizon can actually help improve your natural balance and posture. Try this while you are on a short walk or even just moving between rooms. It is a quiet way of working with your body to feel more steady and connected to the world around you. 🌳
