I absolutely love the unpredictability of my sessions at Tiny Town. I wanted to create a singing group that allowed parenthood to show up exactly as it is. That allowed children to show up exactly as they are. No feeling, no energy, no sound made to feel unwelcome.
As a mum with an incredibly active, gloriously wild and vocal child I know there is nothing worse than being at a parent group feeling that you need to shrink or hide your child to fit in. And I am certain the same is true for those feeling that they need to force their child to join in or engage when they wish to sit and watch.
In these singing groups I strive to make space for every parent and every child to just be all that they are. Sometimes it’s tranquil bliss, sometimes it’s total chaos and that is parenthood. Yet we sing through it all. I truly believe this cultivates a learning that surpasses just this space. Instead of is being a singing group you long for each week just to have a moment to sing and reconnect with yourself and your child. You are learning the tools to carry this into your daily life. To sing in the moments of chaos, to use your voice and these songs to assist your child and you through your daily struggles and moment of joy.
Singing in a community or parents all moving through parenthood in that very moment is a power and connection I always come away cherishing deep in my bones.
