What a great summer it has been! We have had lots of fun at our sessions over the holidays, including dance activities with Workout with Mika , a mini beast session with Rent a Beast , a visit from Teddy and Carlos from Knightley Alpaca Trekking and bushcraft activities with Our Space staff Tim and Anne, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and In2theWildwood. Thank you to all the activity providers, staff, volunteers and most importantly all the families who came along to join us! Here is a video showing some of the fun we had 😀

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Teddy and Carlos the alpacas back to Our Space. Thank you, Clare from Knightley Alpaca Trekking, it was great to see you all again! 🦙🦙💜

Earlier this year we were contacted by Mike at Doocey Group who asked if we could make use of some large concrete pipes! After further discussion it was agreed that four large planters would be made out of the pipes so that our members could grow some plants and vegetables.

Doocey Group made and painted the planters for us, organised all the materials and the delivery and Mike, Brendan, Richard and Georgia came out and worked really hard in the heat to clear our yard, ready for the installation of the planters.

Now, as you can see from the photos, our members are really enjoying looking after the new plants that they have planted.

Thank you so much to all involved, your support is very much appreciated and your hard work will be enjoyed by our members for many years to come. 😊🌱

It's disco time again this Saturday!

Disco is for anyone aged 16 and over with a disability. Entry is £5 and carers are free. Refreshments can be purchased.

*** TWO WEEKS TO GO! ***

With only two weeks to go, we now have a fantastic team of 34 people who are kindly taking part in our sponsored abseil from Millers Dale Bridge to raise funds for Our Space and we couldn’t be more grateful to each and every one of them for their support.

On Sunday 6th September 2026 a team of daring Our Space supporters will be abseiling 80 feet from Millers Dale Bridge in Derbyshire to raise vital funds for the charity.

During the hot weather we have been glad to make use of our shaded woodland area. Our Centre Assistant, Tim, Playworker, Anne, and Nick from In2thewildwood provided some fun activities in our woods, including an obstacle course, hammocks and making bandanas.

This week Louise and Francesca from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust visited twice and brought plenty more great activities with them. Lots of children (and adults!) enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks, bug hunting and painting with paints they had made themselves from leaves, mud and blackberries. 😊

*** MEET LIAM ***

Liam is one of our fabulous team of abseilers who will be joining us for our sponsored event on Sunday 6th September. Here is what he has to say about taking part:

"I'm doing the charity abseil for Our Space because my wife told me to! We've only been married for 3 months so I don't know what she's trying to say! I'm really happy to be supporting such a great cause. Our Space do such great work so to raise some money to enable them to keep doing that is something I'm proud to be a part of. I'm a little nervous, but very excited. Hopefully it doesn't rain!"
